The process took 1 day. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company in Oct 2011
Interview
Invited to McKinsey first round IWIA for APD candidates. 1 hour problem solving test, as expected very time pressured. I left my watch at home, which made time management tricky. There were two clocks in the room, but the one on my side was broken. Following PST, we had two back to back 1 hr. group practice cases with one consultant (first one very junior only 10 mo in, second one an engagement manager) and three other candidates. Didn't hear back after two days, maybe they reject you later.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A Caribbean Island is seeing declining tourism revenue. Devise a strategy for them.
The interview is structured exactly as the preparation materials describe, i.e. personal fit and case. All interviewers were friendly and supportive. After each interview round I received helpful feedback. The cases are not easy but fair.

Question 1
Questions regarding the case. Interviewer will led the case though
First, there is a computer test screening. Then, you get invited for the first round interview, usually conducted by an AP. Then, for second round, you have two interviews with Partners. You get feedback quickly, less than a week between interview and feedback
3 stage interview with increasing seniority. Opportunity to prepare with current colleagues prior to interview which was useful. Straight forwards process, no big suprises if you prepare in advance but prep is needed
