Interview

I applied to this position via the online Leidos career portal at the end of April 2015 and was contacted in the beginning of May 2015 inquiring for my resume as well as written responses to 8 interview questions via an email questionnaire. 2 weeks later I was contacted through email requesting samples of my writing, specifically editing, writing, & illustration, in that order of importance. Each time I sent materials to Human Resources, they did not confirm receipt or acknowledge my submissions. Despite my request via email and telephone to have a phone screen/discuss the position further, I received no response; I was only able to monitor that I was still 'under consideration' via the Leidos non-employee career portal. I received an automated rejection response in the 2nd week of June 2015. If the interview process with Human Resources is any indication of employment, it was incredibly impersonal. I write that with a grain of salt because it would have been incredibly beneficial to discuss the position with a Leidos communications professional instead of being a number to human resources.

This position will require the ability to apply editing and writing skills to documentation and creativity to drawings, designs and graphics, and will edit articles, manuscripts, illustrations, posters, tables and figures. Please explain your related experience. 2. How would you rate your expertise with the following (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced): Microsoft Word,Excel, Powerpoint - Adobe Indesign - Illustrator - Photoshop - ChemDraw - Deltagraph - MAC and PC computers - 3. Why are you seeking career opportunities at this time? (Why did you leave your previous position? Why do you wish to leave your current position? What about this position interest you?) 4. What is your current salary and if selected, what salary would you expect for this position? Please avoid the term “negotiable”. 5. This position will be located on Ft. Detrick, in Frederick, Maryland. If applicable, are you willing and able to relocate. 6. Please explain any gaps in your employment. 7. Are you related to anyone who works for Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.? If so, please provide their name and relationship to you. 8. If selected for this position, are you authorized to work for any employer in the United States? Do you now, or will you in the future, require visa sponsorship?
