I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Illumina in Jan 2022
Interview
Had 5 rounds in total.
First, 30 min phone call with the recruiter to know my interests and background.
Second, 30 min phone call with the hiring manager. Again, talked about my background and the position. Do ask good questions to the HM.
Third, 1 hr interview with 3 senior scientists who have been with the company for a long time. They introduced themselves and what they exactly do. I introduced myself and my background. Mostly talked about my relevant projects, skills. No behavioral questions were asked as such. Do ask good questions from them too.
Fourth, 30 min Video call with the HM. Asked about my feedback of the 1hr panel interview. Told to ask any remaining questions I might have about the role/company.
Fifth, 15 min video call with the recruiter. Again, just asked if I had any concerns about the position/company.
Overall, great experience. People were supportive and helpful at each step. The process took about 4 weeks ( extended due to Xmas holidays).
Starts with HR screening call, then moved on to hiring manager call, then moved on to virtual panel interview with 6 members of different teams, whole process took about a month

Interview
They asked for a video one way interview which was strange. Feels like the manager does not have the time or cares enough about the process to do the interview themselves.
Talent acquisition asked standard questions but couldn’t tell me much about the specifics of the team or role. Would imagine that would have been more of a hiring manager task.
