      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at IBM (Austin, TX)

      Interview

Applied online, and completed a questionnaire. The recruiter called me without any confirmation and did not leave a voicemail. I had to call back right away (without knowing whose number it was), and had a general discussion about my background and interest. Next step is the on-site interview, in which I was given an assignment. There is three interviews on-site: 1-1 with an engineer, 1-1 with a designer and a presentation that you present to a panel. In my case, my interview with the designer was the most disrespectful. The person was closing his eyes (napping) during the interview, and was obviously not paying attention. It was very unprofessional and I did not feel comfortable throughout the process. Aside from that, my interview with the engineer was mainly about handling conflicts; there was no technical questions. I did not get the position; however, I followed-up with an email asking for feedback but did not receive any responses. The process is a bit peculiar because the recruiters are used to screening engineers and not designers (which they admit themselves), so the focus of the entire interview becomes more on culture fit as opposed to your portfolio or even design in general.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at IBM (Austin, TX) in Dec 2015

      Interview

The process was very quick and relatively painless. From the initial application to the hiring was approximately 2 weeks. First, there was a one hour phone screen with a senior staff member. During this interview, they asked me to talk about my work. Within a day or two, I was called for an on-site interview. The on-site was around half a day and was one-on-one interviews with potential colleagues and managers. People asked various questions about past work and workplace experiences
