      Account Executive Interview

      2 Apr 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Mar 2024

      Interview

Recruiter phone screening > Mock Discovery Call w/ a random manager on the team (not necessarily the one you'd work with) > Final round is a series of 3 back to back 45min each interviews. - The recruiter was really nice and helpful. - The second round of the interview with one of the managers went super well and I really liked her but the last round with the 3 back to backs was an absolutely horrible experience. Zero conversation so couldn't even learn more about the role from managers. It was just them asking a laundry list of questions in what felt like an interrogative style. Of the three managers I met with that day, I only liked one. The other two made me feel like from the beginning that they were actively trying trip me up and didn't want me there. It was very odd and I don't know if it was just those managers or if that's the whole vibe amongst most of the managers there but I was extremely disappointed in the final round experience. **Leverage the STAR method when interviewing. They want very, very specific answers. Despite me giving very specific answers, they still were telling me I wasn't specific enough so I guess just keep that in mind while interviewing -- be very, very specific.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - What do you do outside of work to develop your skills? - Tell me about a challenge in a sales cycle... - Why do you want to work here? - What research did you do for this interview? - How did you overcome XYZ challenge? - What can you be better at? - How to find your answers to things? - What do you do to improve yourself at work? - Walk me through a time you've sought out coaching and developed a coaching plan with your manager.... **This question annoyed me because some people have managers that aren't dedicated to helping their employees and it's incredibly to get feedback and development from the manager you have. Not all managers are good managers. etc.

      Application

I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA)

      Interview

Multiple meetings and material to review for your interview stages. Be prepared to take 5 hours out of your work day to join the interview prep calls and meetings. Total time dedicated to interviews and preparation time roughly 10 hours.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dallas, TX) in May 2026

      Interview

Very thorough and transparent interview process. Make sure you come well-prepared and can confidently speak to your ability to consistently execute 50+ outbound calls per day. I would also recommend highlighting a structured sales system you’ve successfully used and be prepared to walk through it in detail—from territory mapping and prospect research to outbound outreach, meeting generation, pipeline management, and follow-up cadence. The more you can demonstrate a repeatable, process-driven approach to generating results, the stronger your candidacy will be. Additionally, have specific metrics and success stories ready that showcase how your system has translated into meetings, opportunities, and revenue.
