I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Harris Teeter in May 2013
Interview
I applied, went in and spoke to the co-manager, and he told me he'd call me. (I didn't think he would though because I never get called!) I got a call a week and a half later.
The interview was very laid back. It was my first interview, and it didn't feel like one; more like small talk. After I told him about myself he basically jumped right in and told me about harris teeter store policies and training, etc. I knew I got the job at that moment.
This is my first job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Literally asked two questions:
Tell me about yourself.
Why do you want to work at harris teeter?
Straightforward process and not too difficult of questions. Went to corporate office, there were several other candidates there to interview as well. All went through interview process around the same time other candidates in separate areas, and then rejoined once interview was completed to start onboarding.
I applied online. I interviewed at Harris Teeter (Greensboro, NC) in Jan 2026
Interview
I apply through the Harris Teeter careers website.
Then In-Person, lasts about 20 minutes
Very casual and conversational.
They ask Basic questions like “Tell me about yourself.”
“How would you handle an unhappy customer?”
“What would you do if an item scans the wrong price?”
Pretty simple and straight forward, the hiring manager was nice. I'm a full time student so it was a low level part time position. If you have even average conversational skills you should be just fine.
