I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Guitar Center in Aug 2014
Interview
Applied online, called manager several times to follow up, scheduled an interview, and interviewed with the store manager (others interviewed with what, at the time was, the Sales and Training Manager. The position has since been renamed "Customer Service Manager"). Manager read questions off of an interview packet presumably made available by corporate, and didn't particularly seem to really be paying attention to my answers, it felt moreso like he was going through the motions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you overcame adversity. Tell me about a time you displayed leadership.
Well thought out interview pretty easy, I thought it went well but didn't get offered a position. I still feel like they are a good company although I heard they changed there commission structure in the past few years.
Simple and to the point. They want to know if you fit into the company culture. They also want to know what your skill set is as far as musical ability. It is very easygoing and relaxed

Interview
Felt like I was being interrogated or discriminated against, as if this were an important career. Dude, you hire high school students. Give me a break. Avoid applying to guitar center.
