      Engineering Project Manager Interview

      23 Apr 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Orlando, FL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Glassdoor (Orlando, FL) in Apr 2025

      Interview

i found one post at linkedin where i decided to check the opportunity that was at glassdoor, i saw the manager shared the opportunity to his network, i decided added him and after he accepted my invitation , i just sent a thank you message, and didnt ask anything about the opportunity that i applied, after couple days i received email from glassdoor to schedule phone screening by recruiter , at this point i received a message from the hiring manager saying that reviewed my background and enjoyed it , and was expecting to talk with me soon, it was expected to be the second phase of the hiring process, so , i scheduled my first screening, the name says it by it self : phone screening .. it means to confirm your background that they already know by my resume, noting new was added , so during the phone screening the recruiter was friendly , but it appears she was in rush , she talked a lot, explained about the hiring process , and when she asked me the only one question was : describe in overview one project you managed from beginning to the end.. and said we had only 7 minutes left, this is the only one question she asked, after that , i answered the question, and she asked if i had one doubt, as it is screening, i didnt ask anything about the role because it was clear to me, and more technical questions was expecting to ask the manager, as she was only there to screening my background and confirm if what i insert on my linkedin/resume was the same i talked. so, i didnt ask any specific question regarding the role due i already added in that time one employee that was working in the same position that i was been interviewed, then ok we closed the interview and she said was expecting 3 days to receive any feedback to schedule new interview, ,after 3 days i decided to reach the recruiter asking to schedule the real interview, as i was only screened, for my surprise i received generic message , saying they decided to go with other candidate who the background was more aligned with the position !!, how it was even possible ? i didnt get the interview with the hiring manger , how the hiring manager said he liked my background and profile, then they decide go with other candidate without interview me ? .. i evaluated my background with another employee and basically our experiences and skils was the same .. the only difference was i got MSc and PMP .. But everthing about the same.. i was believing that glassdoor had a transparence policy, then i decided to reach the recruiter who screened, to ask more details about our phone screening and outcome, what exactly part of my resume that she figured out only during my screening , changed their mind , and since then i was not good fit anymore, but for my surprise, she didnt have. consideration about my effort and time invested in apply and schedule a time to talk with her .. she disrespected me when she decided not sent even one real message that would take 5 minutes to answer. so i did the same with the hiring manager, and sent 1 message, and didnt hear nothing, than send second message, thinking he forgot to check the message, and for my surprise he made the same, disrespectfully missed my messages even we are part of same network. so based on it for my worst experience ever, i decided to insert here my review regarding this worst hiring interview process, and believe when you apply for this company the way you will be screened will decide if you will go to the next step or not based only the mood of the recruiter, if she dont like the way you talk by phone, or if she wake up in bad mood , she will say to the hiring manager , you are not great candidate anymore , it how i felt after this entire experience.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and interview experience with us. We aim to provide a clear, respectful, and efficient interview process. We recognize that experiences can vary, and we use input from candidates like yours to continue improving. Just to clarify a few points you suggested about the interview process: Recruiter Phone Screen interviews are designed not only to provide details about the role and the interview process, but also to evaluate the skills, experiences, and abilities required for success in the role. They are not simply a review of the resume or LinkedIn profile, and, unfortunately, not all candidates who are screened advance to subsequent interview stages. We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective and wish you the best in your future endeavors. - Jake Dorochenko, Manager of Talent, Technology
