A recruiter reaches out to get to know you and see if you would be a good fit for the role. Once through the call with a recruiter, a Zoom interview is set up the following week. I spent time preparing for the interview by reading about the company, MarketMinder articles, and educating myself on investing. The interviewers each take turns, separately, asking questions about work experience and how you would handle different scenarios. Many of the questions are repeated between interviewers and don’t seem to be coordinated beforehand. Two of the three HM’s were kind, professional, and personable. The third came into the interview late, was disengaged, and asked several questions about my career decisions, continuously asking why I left my previous employer despite my reasoning being simple and straightforward. I’ll highlight the questions actually asked for the purpose of the position below. The final interviewer was on their phone, holding up my resume and squinting, and rude. Overall, my experience with the final interviewer was negative and, despite (expectedly) being turned down for the role, I wouldn’t work for the company after the experience I had in the interview with the final HM.
Advice: Come prepared, learn as much as possible about the current market, stocks, bonds, and the yield curve, and be sure you are confident and capable of consulting your “mock” client on the state of the market.
