      I interviewed at Fisher Investments

      Interview

I only made it past the initial phone screening. The recruiter was nice and asked a lot of in depth questions. Some STAR based questions as well as my knowledge about Fisher Investments. My phone screening was on a Wednesday and I got an email the following Monday that they did not want to move forward with an interview.

      Question 1

What are your interest in finances? What do you know about Fisher Investments? Tell me about a time you went above and beyond?

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Fisher Investments (Camas, WA)

      Interview

Long story short, don't bother applying for this position if you are interested in working in events. I chose to ignore all the feedback I'd received from friends who had interviewed at Fisher and give it a chance. During the phone screening, the recruiter basically told me that opportunities in this department (Client Programs) can be competitive and asked if I would be open to hearing about other opportunities within Fisher. Not wanting to close the door on positions I didn't even know about, I said that I would be open to that. Scheduled my in-person interview on the Camas campus and no one could tell me in advance which position(s) I would be interviewing for - I couldn't really prepare well even if I wanted to. Met with two different managers during my on-site interview, neither of whom work with Client Programs. I assumed that they had hired from within or On my way home, I was browsing LinkedIn and noticed that they'd reposted the Client Event Coordinator position just a few days prior. I followed up with my recruiter to politely ask if they were indeed hiring for that position and if so, why I had not been given the opportunity to interview for it (of course, framed as wanting feedback on why my background/experience might not be right). She told me that no, the Client Programs team was not hiring for the position at this time, but that after a few years at Fisher I could be eligible to move around to other teams, something they really like to emphasize at the interviews too. Anyway, have been keeping an eye on LinkedIn and have seen them repost this exact position every couple of weeks since then. Spoke with friends who had interviewed before and apparently this is what they do - Lure people in with more appealing positions and then tell them they're not hiring for that. Those who interviewed me weren't even aware that I wasn't there to interview for their jobs, so it made it awkward when I explained (very professionally of course) that I am not interested in finance specifically but in events generally. Interviews themselves were very easy; interviewers asked all the basic interview questions and were very nice and conversational. Didn't technically get an offer because I had to withdraw my candidacy before I heard back for other reasons.

      Question 1

Basic interview questions: What do you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses? Tell me about a time you were asked by multiple managers to complete multiple "priorities" and how you handled that.

      Client Event Coordinator Interview

      29 Sept 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Camas, WA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Fisher Investments (Camas, WA) in Sept 2016

      Interview

The process is exactly as everyone has mentioned on here. Applied online, a few days later had an initial phone interview that lasted 10 minutes and didn't ask great detail about my experience. Next was a 20 minute video interview with the same recruiter, once again no real detail about my experience. Then they brought me in for a tour of the offices and to meet with hiring managers. Offices were nice, extremely corporate, everyone was very young, and sadly very limited diversity (I'm white and noticed it was mainly white people). I met with separate hiring managers for 20 minute interviews where we dove into my resume and the positions they were offering. It is odd to interview for a position other then what you applied for, but as people mentioned it appears Fisher is trying to decide if you are a good fit for the company and then decide which position they like for you. Next I moved on to a background check (they have a third party company implement this) and then a phone interview with a VP of the initial position I applied for. The VP seemed extremely disinterested in interviewing me and was quite rude. A week later the recruiter called me saying they would not be moving forward with me and they do not provide any feedback. Overall the process was a bit too long, 4 weeks and 4 rounds of interviews.
