I had a brief phone interview with the HR manager, who then scheduled a phone interview with the Senior Embedded Software Engineer. In a 15 minute phone interview with him, I was asked some basic questions on C programming. A few days later, the HR manager said they were passing on me, even though I answered all questions correctly. Apparently, I didn't "fit the culture". I guess actually wanting to do the job isn't as important as the socializing.
The position had been posted (and reposted) for several years. That was 4 years ago. It is still posted. Currently, I am an independent contractor, working for one of DornerWorks' customers, cleaning up the sloppy code that was written by the same Senior Engineer who rejected me. After this project, I will be working on several other messes made by this company. I am eating their lunch. Their former customer is now mine.
