Phone call with a HR person the day after I submitted application. Then had an interview with 2 people a week later. Then was called for another interview a week after that. Then had a phone interview the next day with the head of department who was based in Texas. They never got back to me. All of the interviews involved talking through my CV with a couple of competency style questions thrown in. There was significant overlap between the interviews. I was asked where I saw myself in 5 years time in all 3 of the interviews. The interviewers were very friendly and generally it was pretty informal. The HR person organising things was very professional.

The interview process was well structured and respectful. Conversations were substantive and focused on judgment, problem-solving, and how one thinks through complex situations, rather than purely technical questions or hypotheticals. Interviewers were well prepared, engaged, and open, and the discussions felt more like a two-way exchange than an interrogation. There was also transparency around expectations, team dynamics, and how the role fits within a broader, matrixed organisation. The process moved at a reasonable pace and communication was clear throughout. Overall, it felt like an interview process designed to assess real fit and long-term contribution, rather than just ticking boxes.
