I was already working at Cox Auto on a contract and learned about a permanent opening. My manager referred me and I did a phone screen with a recruiter. After that, I was sent to a 1:1 interview with the hiring manager. When we finished, he walked me over to a 3-person panel of my potential peers where they were each assigned pre-selected questions and I was prepped and expected to give a STAR answer for each question (I did not know the questions, only that my answers needed to be STAR format). Finally, two more 1:1 executive interviews. At this point I'm expecting an offer, only to be told at the end - there is now a hiring freeze and the job req has been pulled. No real apology for the unbelievable waste of time, stress, effort, disappointment...
