I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Capco (New York, NY) in Apr 2022
Interview
I had a similar experience to another poster here. Got a message on LinkedIn and decided to go forward with interviewing. The process involved an interview night with three interviews. 2 of them were entirely behavioral and the third revolved around the candidate asking questions to learn more about the company. Received positive feedback and moved onto a case study. Again, fairly straightforward where you answer some business questions based on information given to you and prepare a presentation. I received positive feedback again after that.
Following that, I had a conversation with my HR contact about salary and was told my number could be acceptable. I was told to sit tight for a few days and wait to hear back. After about a week of not hearing anything, I reached out and was told to wait a week as they were busy. I waited another week and reached out again after not hearing. On that call, I was told they had to get some things together and wait another 3 weeks. At that point, it became fairly obvious that I likely would not be receiving an offer. Based off the other review here I think it was likely an issue with the salary request. I would have liked that they had been more straightforward with me in regards to any possible issues with that, however, I enjoyed the conversations with people I met so not all negative. Maybe I misunderstood, but based off the feedback, I think salary requests is likely where you could run into issues with this.

Question 1
Mostly normal behavioral. Why consulting, why CapCo, etc
Glad to hear you enjoyed the conversations with our team! At the same time, we are sorry to learn your interview process did not progress as quickly per our usual standard. We would agree it sounds like a miscommunication and we’re committed to doing better. Appreciate you bringing your experience to light and please know we are taking steps to tighten up communications with our candidates.

They do multiple rounds of interviews with different teams - first an intro with the Human Resources recruiter, then a manager, and then technical team to gauge fit of your experience.

Positive
My interview process with Capco was one of the most welcoming and respectful experiences I’ve had in consulting. Every person I met was friendly, genuine, and intentional about creating a comfortable environment. There were no “gotcha” or trick questions — the conversations were straightforward, fair, and focused on understanding my experience.
I appreciated that they gave me time to think, ask for clarity, and speak openly without feeling judged. There was no sense of elitism or ego from anyone on the panel. Compared to other firms I’ve interviewed with, Capco’s culture felt noticeably more positive and grounded.
I left the interview feeling respected, valued, and confident that my background and experiences were truly appreciated.

Interview
Interview process was fairly smooth, mostly verbal questions and no live coding/coding exercises. Overall a nice experience.
Some issues after accepting the offer however, they then took 3 weeks to get back in contact with me. The response was that the role was no longer needed and i may get hired as a "culpability" role. Within 24 hours this was then changed to their is a role after all. This part was rather stressful.
