I was emailed first by BMS Devens about a validation engineering position and was asked to schedule a phone interview. Despite my repeated attempts to get into contact with this individual, I was completely ignored.
About a month later, I was invited to another phone screen, this one for an associate scientist/engineer rotational program. The phone screen went well and involved being interviewed by a panel of engineers; each took their turn asking a variety of personality, work style, and technical questions regarding work I had done in and out of school. I was later invited for an interview at BMS Devens.
The interview consisted of an all-expenses-paid, two-day affair that involved a pleasant dinner with engineers at night, followed by a series of presentations the next morning before the group of eight or so broke up to visit their respective interviewers. I interviewed with three engineers separately for about 30 minutes each (one for each role in the rotational program), and then had a panel interview with three engineers for other positions at BMS. These interviews were by-and-large more conversational and involved questions going both ways, questions about my career goals, what interest me, my experiences and qualifications, and work styles. The panel interview was more direct and mostly consisted of personality/work style questions though other students said they had technical questions in them. The day ended with a lunch and more networking and finished with a long tour of the facility where you could ask questions.
About a week later I was contacted by BMS to set up a phone conference with HR and an engineer. Unfortunately, this traditionally good sign was all to inform me I would not be getting the job, but I do appreciate that the engineer contacted me to say that they were "strongly considering me" for other roles and which those roles were for, and to apply for them ASAP.
I applied to those positions online and was almost instantly rejected. My attempts at further communication with the engineer, and another engineer I was told to contact, were ignored. I contacted the HR rep who promised to help me out if I did not get the rotational role, and she said she would look into it, and then stopped responding to me.
Overall, this promise of communication after such seemingly feigned interest was a huge turn off to BMS.
Two months later, I was finally contacted by another engineer who received my resume "from a colleague" and wanted to set up a phone call with me. I appreciate that this was finally done, but in that long time of silence, I was convinced BMS had lost all interest in me and had accepted another job offer.
