      Asset Protection Specialist Interview

      26 Sept 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Pflugerville, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy (Pflugerville, TX) in Mar 2011

      Interview

The hiring and Interview process was very smooth. I applied online and then called into the store after 3 business days to make sure that they had received my application. A day or two after receiving confirmation that they had received my application I got a phone call from the supervisor of the position that I was applying for and was asked if I had time to do a phone interview. It was a basic interview asking about some previous work experience and why I wanted to work at Best Buy and seeing if I had any questions. At the conclusion of the interview another interview was set up with the manager who would be my manager upon getting the job. I had been into Best Buy before so I knew what to expect as far as appearance goes. The interview questions were very standard with questions such as: What previous experiences have you had that would make you a good employee at Best Buy? What would you do if situation XYZ occurred? At the conclusion of this interview a third interview was set up with the store manager. At the third interview the questions were mostly the same as at the previous interview and ended with receiving a job offer. After the interviews I was informed that orientation would be on a certain date at a certain time. When I informed them that I would not be able to make it on that date at that time they scheduled a separate time when I could come in and go through orientation. After the interview I was directed to go to a certain clinic within 48 hours to get a drug test. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.

      Question 1

The most difficult question for me is not very unexpected and I get it in every interview: What can you tell me about yourself?

      Asset Protection Specialist Interview

      14 Feb 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Houston, TX
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Best Buy (Houston, TX)

      Interview

3 interviews in total.. seems a bit excessive and absurd for a retail position, not even a management position. First 2 interviews were in person and third interview was with GM

      Anonymous employee
      Hartford, CT
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy (Hartford, CT) in Dec 2019

      Interview

Very Straightforward. I found it to be less intimidating than most other interviews I have been on. Be prepared to answer some basic questions about honesty and your tolerance for breaking the rules. Spoiler alert: There can be no tolerance for breaking rules or dishonesty in this position.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

What would you do if an associate took a pack of gum while working at the register and offered you a piece.

      Question 2

Do you have any problems writing long reports?

      15 Jan 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Best Buy (Los Angeles, CA) in Jul 2018

      Interview

Applied for a full-time position after being part-time for over a year, and felt that my manager who was doing the interview did not fully grasp the responsibilities and of Asset Protection. The answers they were looking for were not reflective of the realities of the job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

"If an associate continues to not perform their hourly shrink/safety walks, how would you go about getting them to do so?"
