The recruiter begins the conversation with a snarky comment about where I was interviewing from; however, it was not unprofessional, there were no distractions, and it was quiet, but I pressed on despite their zoom background being actually distracting and unprofessional (it was a Halloween graveyard theme….). Then they proceed to ask me very minimal questions about my background and did not seem interested whatsoever, it’s like they came into the meeting with a negative outlook. What really escalated the interview was when they asked about if I knew what the company did/and or provided. Yes, I did give them examples and even organizations they collaborate with; however, they were not impressed that I did not mention drones and other very specific details claiming that “If you had investigated more, you’d gone through a loophole of what more the company has to offer.” First, I did my research, just not enough to inform you of who the board members were and I apologize; however, this “interview” did in fact not feel like one, it didn’t even feel like a pre-screening. We spent more time on the topic of their company rather than my actual work history and skill set. I am overall very disappointed, not with the company, but with how they’ve allowed someone as trivial in that senior role to interview me. It was a harsh experience, I regret not providing my feedback, but that may have been due to the fact that I was being recorded even before she joined the call which was something that was not mentioned was going to take place before or during the meeting. I don’t dream of working here and now I think the recruiter did me a favor by providing me a glimpse of how mediocre the company actually is and how they treat their employees.
