      Full Stack Software Engineer Interview

      22 Jul 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Portland, OR

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Autodesk (Portland, OR) in Jul 2019

      Interview

I applied online for the position, and got a response from an internal recruiter a few days later. He said he was "very impressed" with my resume. We went through some basic questions about my experience, and current role. He asked me to complete a coding exercise in about 2 days. I completed it, and was given an opportunity to interview with the manager for the role, who was based in another city. We did a video meeting, and I was invited to do a local onsite interview with the team. My interview was midweek. I interviewed with 8 people total, some individually, some in pairs. Everyone was nice, and thoughtful. Most of the interview questions were good. One pair seemed liked they'd just found a website of interview questions and were asking those. My last interview was again with the manager of the team, who told me that they would speak with the team, and I should hear back from the recruiter that Friday or Monday. I got no contact. I wrote the recruiter on the following Tuesday, and the Manager on the following Thursday. I didn't receive any communication for a full week after I was told that I would. When that email came, telling me that they were not interested in continuing with me, the recruiter got my name wrong. Mistakes happen , but paired with the lack of communication for a full week it came off as very inconsiderate. Excepting the communication issue at the end, everyone was professional, and the experience was an overall good one.

      Interview

I first had a recruiter call to talk about the role and interview process. The first interview was with a hiring manager, it was a behavioral interview. After that, it was a live react interview, then a system design, then a culture fit round.

      Interview

The interview process was a positive experience overall. I had three rounds of technical interviews where I was asked questions related to my skills, previous projects, and problem-solving abilities. Each round tested different aspects of my technical knowledge and practical application. The interviewers were supportive, and the discussions were insightful, making the process both challenging and enjoyable.

      Question 1

One of the key questions they asked me was to explain a project I had worked on in detail, including the technologies used, challenges faced, and how I overcame them.
