      CPU Design Engineer Interview

      13 Oct 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Madison, WI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at Arm (Madison, WI) in Oct 2015

      Interview

It was a digital video interview. One has to record answers for the questions asked in the video. There were around 10 questions. For each question, 30 seconds were given to think and 3 minutes to answer that question.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

Why are interested in working with ARM? What qualities do you have have that makes a proper fit for this job etc.

      Question 2

Feedback on Digital video Interview Process I personally did not like digital video interview. I felt it does not correctly let one reflect their skills and abilities. I believe face to face or telephonic interview would be better ways to judge a candidate's ability.

Thanks for leaving a review of your interview experience with ARM, and I'm sorry to read that you had a negative experience. This year, we are integrating video interviews into our Early Careers hiring, but only for the initial screen. Due to the high number of applicants we get each year, video interviews allow us to review candidates faster, more efficiently and to more regions. If the candidate is considered a good fit, we will still extend a face-to-face interview in one of our offices. Video interviews are still relatively new in recruiting, but they allow us to assess all candidates equally, as the questions/phrasings are the same for everyone applying for that role. Depending on the role, we also have coding questions that assess a candidate's technical capability, which again, is equal for everyone. Video interviews also gives you, the candidate, the flexibility to complete the interview around your schedule, as well as time for you to formulate a response, instead of being caught off guard by a question. -Rick C.
