I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Apple (Sacramento, CA) in Apr 2010
Interview
First, I had to create an Apple ID on the Apple.com website and upload a resume. Ten days later I received an e-mail directing me to answer a few more questions, with a link to a personality test. A week later, I received an e-mail that I had been selected for an interview, where I was instructed to attend an information session, which is a presentation about why it's great to work for Apple, and then attend a group interview. After the interview, I asked about how long before I knew if I was going to be moving forward to another interview, made an offer, or rejected, I was told two weeks. I never heard from them again.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
The interviewer asked me to instruct him over the phone on how to navigate the Apple website - he had a computer in front of him, I did not.
asked general questions about how you would deal with customers in various scenarios, positive and negative. and then do an example call with the interviewer from start to finish, then various personal questions
Asked about prior work, current schedule, knowledge regarding subject matter. I didn't get into any informational interview questions until the third interview. The first two interviews were practically all formal greetings and making sure there aren't schedule or schooling conflicts.
