      Front End Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Jun 2022

      Interview

I applied to Amazon in June 2022. The process took 7 weeks. There was a total of 3 rounds: First Round - Recruiter: I applied to a couple of Front End Engineer positions at Amazon, and also got referrals to several ones. The recruiter reached out to discuss my role preferences. My application was shared internally with different teams, not limited to the ones I have applied to. Finally, one team was interested in my profile and decided to go forward. Round 2 - Phone Screen: I was able to schedule the Phone Screen about 3 weeks after the initial call with the recruiter. The interview started with a self-introduction, then followed by some Amazon Leadership questions. It concluded with a 30 minutes Front End coding challenge. You have to write code in a note-pad similar editor. The interviewer was very kind and friendly. Round 3 - Final Round/Virtual Onsite: I got the results of the Phone Screen after 2 days and was contacted to schedule the Final Round. The recruiter reached out for a prep call. This was a long round, consisting of 4 one-on-one interviews on the same day, each of which lasted 1 hour. The first interview was algorithm-based coding questions, the next 2 interviews were Front-End coding challenges, and the last one focused on Amazon Leadership Principles questions. The algorithm questions were Leetcode Medium questions, and the Front End challenges asked you to create a user interface with the framework of your preference (React, Angular, plain JS). In the Leadership interview, the interviewer asked really deep about your experiences and drilled you down to every single detail. Make sure to prepare at least 2-3 examples for each Leadership Principle that you can discuss in great detail, and have sufficient quantifiable data to support your answers. The offer: The recruiter told me to expect the results within one week. However, I had to follow up with them and finally got the interview feedback after 9 days. I performed well in the interviews, but the team I was interviewing for had already filled the position. However, the HM of another team was interested in my results, so they decided to give me an offer. They maxed out the number for the level I was in (L4), and the offer exceeded my expectations. Overall, it was a positive interview experience. The offer was really good, and they lined up with the package for SDE. I would highly recommend applying to Front End Engineer roles with Amazon. And lastly, never lose hope even if you failed an Amazon interview. I failed the interview in October 2021 but eventually get an offer 9 months later.

      Front End Engineer I Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amazon (Bengaluru) in May 2026

      Interview

I interviewed for the Front End Engineer I role at Amazon and received an offer. The process started with an online assessment consisting of two DSA questions and one React debugging/fixing task. I was able to complete all the questions. The first interview focused on a graph-based DSA problem, follow-up questions, resume discussion, and Amazon Leadership Principles. I initially mentioned that I was not very comfortable with graph problems, but I worked through the solution by discussing my approach and recalling DFS/BFS concepts. The round went reasonably well. The second round was with a senior front-end engineer and was heavily focused on front-end development. We discussed Next.js, my previous projects, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and AI-assisted development. There was also a machine coding exercise where I built components similar to Amazon product cards. This was my strongest round. The final round was with the Hiring Manager. We briefly discussed my resume and then spent most of the interview on behavioral and Leadership Principle questions. The conversation was engaging, and I also had the opportunity to ask several questions about the team and role. Overall, the interview process was challenging but fair. My advice is to prepare DSA fundamentals, be ready to discuss every project on your resume in depth, and spend significant time preparing Leadership Principle stories.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Design and implement an Amazon-style product card component using React while keeping the component reusable and responsive.
