      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (New York, NY) in Mar 2022

      Interview

Applied, in two days I got an email to take assessment. Online assessment, you can just Google the answers. 4 parts 2 being multiple choice, the other 2 are behavior situations. I got an email stating I passed within a day. Got a random call from a recruiter. She asked if I had sometime to discuss somethings. Thought it would be 5 - 10 minutes to check availability or a quick introduction. Well this turned into a hour phone call asking me technical questions. Worst part, they don't know what they are asking, and unless you give them the answer on the answer sheet it's wrong. One question was what's a built in window tool to get access to another computer. Mstsc.exe /admin or computer management then access another computer is not correct. When she said wrong the answer is remote desktop, I then informed her mstsc is remote desktop which I believe she still marked me as incorrect as it wasn't on her answer sheet. At the end of the call she asked out of the 8 different paths which path did I want. I told her network or Linux which caught her off guard but that is what I put on my email before, then she said you have have more experience in Windows administration do that instead you will most likely pass the test. I agreed, then was informed Windows administration is very popular and no more openings were in my time zone. I got frustrated as this was feeling like I was getting bullied, I informed her we are going back to Linux, in my time zone, and remote only. I get an email an hour later from a different recruiter with the Linux job id, and scheduling. The job id is for the right title, but on site and different time zone. Note, the interview process is a whole day, and I work a full time job, so very inconvenient. I reply if I could get the correct ID and some other simple questions since the horror stories here, like is this job application still open, has the job been offered to someone else. Just so I don't waste my vacation day, so they can meet their interview numbers. Reply was with another job id in my time zone but not remote. This is so frustrating and when I reply back about more information, they don't reply. I get an email the next day confirming time slot, which I kindly reply, I don't want to waste everyone's time as this still isn't clear to me, please hold until we figure it out. Email comes back with the other recruiter cc'd stating they answered all my questions and the interviewers already booked their calendar for me. I sent a quick response with the information in the original email stating remote only, job id I got was not remote, and to please withdraw my application. After that I get the confirmation I finally got right away, but after 2 days of the original question. It was not a good use of my time of 3 hours taking the test, 1 hour for a phone call, 1 hour replying to emails, and 5 hours studying.

      Question 1

If you look on Glassdoor, other people wrote the questions down. Just have them handy with the correct answer. Read the documentation they send you as you are asked about STAR and the leadership principles.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Amazon (Phoneton, OH) in Jan 2021

      Interview

Boring, long and tedious. you will get tired of talking and I think the position was not that WOW to be fair. You will have to speak with at least 5-6 people, wait a lot of time between interview steps and even though everything seems ok they may not hire anyone from a very long list of candidates. They do not tell you how much you will make so the position may not even be worth it.

      Question 1

They ask you a lot of questions about technical stuff that is very difficult to know by memory. I had worked with many of what they asked but you have to answer immediately and it is something you would usually google for a few minutes.
