      Associate Product Manager Interview

      6 Oct 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Activision (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2022

      Interview

This was the worst interview process I've ever been a part of. There was a complete lack of respect for me as a candidate, which is a shame considering the people I talked to were actually quite nice. I was strung along the entire process, given terrible communication, and so many hours of my time were wasted. The process took 3 months (yes, you read that right). 6 months if you count me applying 3 months before I got an interview. There were 6 rounds of interviews, and I spoke with 11 people total (note that this role only required 1 year of experience, lol). I was told I was a top candidate from the start. I didn't really believe it, and I kept my expectations low, but I kept getting next round after next round so I started to believe some of what the recruiter was saying when he was gassing me up. I got to the final round, which was a long day of interviewing (I had to take the day off of work), and I spoke with 6 people just that day. I absolutely killed the panel and was hopeful that I might get an offer. They told me I'd know within a week. 1 week went by, nothing. 2 weeks, nothing. I heard back after 3 weeks, and the recruiter said the feedback was very positive, but they were still interviewing candidates. 2 months later, after repeatedly following up with the recruiter, I finally heard back that they decided to go with another candidate. When I asked for feedback, they said they had none. What an awful recruiting process. One of the interviewers rescheduled me 3 times, each time letting me know only 5 min before the interview that he couldn't make it. This is just one of many examples throughout the process that made me really question the integrity of this company. It's a shame because I had a bunch of good ideas for the role, but their ego was too big to realize that they were being incredibly rude to someone who would shine in their organization. This entire process made my mental health take a major toll. I spent so much time preparing for each interview, only to have to chase down the recruiter via email to try to figure out what was taking so long across multiple rounds. Please be very wary of interviewing with this company, it's clear that their leadership (or maybe just their recruiting methods) is still extremely outdated and problematic.
