Pros
Easy hiring process, no experience needed
Cons
Osha safety violations, no direct support, purposeful lack of staffing
Pros
None this company is horrible
Cons
Everything. The dms don't listen they only want to hear yes. They expect the impossible with real consequences. They treat management like we aren't qualified for our positions. There is absolutely no support what so ever. No hr phone number only a hotline to make a report in hopes you hear something. The worst part is their core values and missionstatement are all lies. They promote a place of inclusion but all I've felt was excluded and was told this job isn't for everyone. They sugar coat the hiring process with their lies.
Pros
Did not witness one pro.
Cons
for me the whole hiring process was a downside. after I they made me the offer and I accepted, the link for me to do my onboarding never worked. on contacted the DM and he told me to call Help Desk. a few days later I contact my DM again and he tells me to go into one of the locations to onboard. So I did so on that day. It then takes them a week to get back with me on when to work. I get a text message Sunday afternoon to be at work Monday morning at 8:00. I show up to the new store Monday morning, I don't have a clue who anybody is, so I walk in and everyone's just standing around looking at each other. about 10 minutes goes by and a lady says that she's from corporate and there's another lady from corporate and they're here to facilitate the new store opening. Then they give us a speech about how sexual harassment will not be tolerated. then they tell us that we'll be working the next 10 days straight and we'll get to 10 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch. And then they just started assigning tasks. there is no introductions there was no explanation on what we're going to be doing for the next 10 days and I still did not even get a schedule..
Pros
The interview process was too easy. I was in high school and submitted my application online. I received a call and they wanted to interview me in person. They didn’t even ask me any interview questions, just asked me what I was studying, and how many hours I can work. That’s it. It was very easy.
Cons
A lot of work. The store where I worked was the busiest dollar store in the area. Right in front of a middle and high school. It was chaotic. Always on your feet.
Pros
I love my co-workers and the flexible schedules . The location is within walking distance. You get sick pay and paid time off plus health benefits among other things.
Cons
The pay is not the greatest considering the amount of work managers and ASM’s are expected to do. The stockroom is overrun with an excessive amount of cases and the delivery trucks send way more than is necessary each week which makes the stockroom unsafe. Shoplifters come and go as they please since there isn’t much in the way of security. There is a simple solution for this but “proof” of theft is needed before the hiring of security person. Also, hard to hire good people with the amount of pay Dollartree offers.
Pros
I had some nice customers.
Cons
Terrible pay. No benefits. When they bring in a new hire, everyone's hours get cut so that the new hire can be trained. No excepetions. Company policy. Shopping and working there will definitely keep you in the poverty cycle, which is just what they want.
Pros
Easy interview process; referral is always hired!
Cons
Lacked ethic and working culture Minimum Wage
Pros
-decent holiday schedule -More than 10 vacation days (personal days included) -one floating birthday holiday -negotiable salary during hiring process (if you're confident you're experienced and worth what you ask for)
Cons
-Value retail companies like Dollar Tree do not hire or provide enough staff for the volume of work -Work life balance is not respected nor prioritized -Intimidation/threatening tactics are used by management -Holidays are the worst time and work volume is unsustainable and management feels pressure from higher ups and do not listen to the needs of employees -Transparency is not valued or respected with supervisors and their employees -Project management systems are outdated and not efficient which in turn creates a inefficient workflow -Merchant's opinions are valued above most other departments and more entry level employees are punished for merchant mistakes and oversight
Pros
Easy hire, pays every two weeks
Cons
Fast turn over rate, negative work place
Pros
The interview and onboarding processes where quick. I was hired on the spot.
Cons
Their top priority is getting things done rather than creating a climate of talent development. Shows no concern for the individual. I was asked to work consecutive shifts, each time I was supposed to be getting if they made a request for me to stay. The turnover rate is extremely high and I could only assume that person quit for the same reason I did. The pay did not match with the snowballing job description. The job title might say cashier but you are told to clean the bathroom, stock shelves and clean the store for $10
