Does Datadog offer a yearly bonus?

Best company I've worked for so far, hands down.

      Pros

      - Amazing culture that starts from the top. By amazing culture I mean: fun events; fun people; nearly zero politics; respectful leadership - No layoffs in the history of the company. Quite amazing considering so many tech companies were laying off left and right just a few years ago - Free lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Not always the most appetizing food however, it's free and you can make yourself a decent plate - Pretty good benefits including: unlimited PTO; fitness reimbursement; phone reimbursement; home office setup

      Cons

      - Most departments do not offer full time remote work. Although I enjoy working here, I may have to leave the company soon since I plan to relocate and there's no office where I'm going. - No end of year bonus despite the company being quite successful - No end of year party for the company as a whole

      Pros

Fantastic & innovative product. Within my time at DDOG, we took over market share, grew revenue YOY and earned a lot of money if you are actually fortunate enough to land big 6 figure deals and held on to your DDOG stocks till Trump won the presidency. Sales Structure is very tight as well, keeping you and your forecast honest. Great office culture, benefits is also another level.

      Cons

Previously Datadog hired a lot of fresh AEs for the commercial team 3-4 years ago, hence base pay was slightly at the lower end. Times have changed of course, new hires are more selective hence more competitive pay. The biggest cons which like any other aggressive sales teams is that its all about numbers, PG is your bloodline, where you are held accountable for everything. Its a pretty technical product, hence for some it could be a steep learning curve if you're new in tech.

Incompetent HR and Expect Wage Theft When Leaving

      Pros

      Growing tech company in Dublin.

      Cons

Everyone who’s been at Datadog for a while will tell you the same thing: the company has completely lost its startup energy and any sense of personal touch. It’s become bureaucratic, impersonal, and is currently run by the most dysfunctional HR team I’ve ever encountered. When I left, Datadog withheld a bonus payment that had been explicitly confirmed by my manager, team director, and HR before my departure. I was encouraged to continue pushing hard under the promise that my bonus would be paid based on the work already completed. Once I left, I was ignored for months - and then finally sent a screenshot of fine print in my contract stating that bonuses are only paid if you’re still employed at the time of disbursement (conveniently, this is always halfway through the following quarter). It was a calculated, bad-faith move to extract value until the very last moment, with no intention of holding up their end (or utter incompetence with no accountability). I’m genuinely disgusted by the experience - both the incompetence and the lack of integrity. Avoid if you can.

      Pros

      - many learning opportunities (was my first PM role and I felt very prepared going into my next one) - high standards for writing; teaches you how to communicate concisely and effectively - office perks, despite it being very crowded at times

      Cons

      - sometimes can take a long time to get a decision approved given all the stakeholders involved // upper management didn't always communicate in the kindest way - underpaid for a good portion of my tenure (didn't feel like I was making a competitive salary until the very end) - once you release a feature, it's always on to the next one; there's not a lot of lot of time for reflection - very difficult / no clear path to getting a promo from L2 to senior in PM org

Thank you for providing your perspective. We’re glad to hear the role offered strong learning opportunities, especially early in your PM career, and that our writing standards helped you build skills you’ve carried forward. We also appreciate your candid feedback on decision-making timelines, leadership communication, and clarity around promotion paths. Input like this helps us better understand how these experiences are felt across the org. Wishing you continued success in your PM journey and thank you for the contributions you made during your time here.
