Inspiring the housebuilders of tomorrow 🏠 Recently, our colleagues at Orbit Homes were joined by pupils from Hill View Primary School for a fun and educational day out at our Calthorpe Gardens development in Banbury, as part of our ‘Building Buddies’ programme. Children tried their hand at bricklaying and even teamed up with colleagues to build their own 3D model home, helping them to learn about each stage of the housebuilding process. It was great to see pupils asking questions and learning more about construction and all the different careers it offers. All the students received a special completion certificate to take home after the visit too! ‘Building Buddies’ is aimed at children aged 7 to 11 in Key Stage Two and allows them to learn more about housebuilding and the range of skills used in the industry whilst safely exploring new homes sites. Creating more sustainable and biodiverse environments for our communities 🌱 Our colleagues volunteered to plant 1,280 hedgerow whips across four of our estates, as part of our commitment to ensure that 30% of our outdoor spaces enable nature’s recovery by 2030. These planting days were our latest colleague events in support of our biodiversity goals and are aligned to our commitment to The Wildlife Trusts' ‘30by30’ campaign. This biodiversity initiative is just one of many under Orbit Earth – our sustainability programme focused on climate action, enhancing outdoor spaces, and sustainable resource use. Our team at Orbit Homes are proud to have made a donation in support of Monty’s School of Boxing – a boxing club helping local youngsters in Southam, Warwickshire. Boxing at the club is already helping young people by providing a place to socialise, build confidence and improve fitness, and our recent donation has helped to fund the new pads, gloves and headguards for the free classes the club offers. Brian Nearney, Regional Managing Director at Orbit Homes, commented: “Orbit Homes has a deeply rooted social purpose, and we are committed to making a positive impact in our local communities.
