In Norway's countryside, a small hospital is achieving remarkable outcomes. Innlandet Hamar Hospital has found a way to scale robotic-assisted surgery across specialties—consistently, affordably, and without compromise. Today, their teams perform five da Vinci cholecystectomies a day—a level of efficiency most hospitals are still striving to reach.
“We improve ourselves every day.” Training Instructor Melina Hinterlang sees that mindset play out across Intuitive. Growth here is steady and deliberate. Small refinements add up to critical innovations—whether you’re designing systems, engineering solutions, or supporting care teams. Discovering the best way forward requires the most thoughtful and demanding work of your career. That shared commitment to getting better, together, helps our teams carry the responsibility the work calls for. Data-driven decisions are redefining surgical efficiency. At IRCCS IFO Rome, hospital leadership leveraged insights from Intuitive’s Genesis system to optimize scheduling, increase utilization, and scale from one to four da Vinci systems, all while working to maintain high-quality outcomes. This is how data transforms investment into sustained value. Watch the full A Future of Firsts story to see what’s possible when analytics and collaboration drive surgical innovation. For 30 years, our journey in producing innovative technology has been driven by data and actionable insights. Consistent feedback is a cornerstone of how we continue advancing the potential of minimally invasive care. With My Intuitive+ for use with da Vinci 5, surgeons can benefit from real-time collaboration and analytics. Using Case Insights, surgeons are provided objective insights to personalize learning. In addition, Telepresence and SimNow equip surgeons with resources to understand, learn, and train for enhanced surgical techniques. The true value of data lies in its application. By being able to drive improvement with strategic, data informed recommendations, we create purposeful innovations designed for the future of care.
This year at Intuitive was shaped by people—by their grit, curiosity, and shared commitment to helping surgeons care for patients. From sales leaders navigating pressure with resilience, to engineers solving complex problems together, to employees who’ve seen the impact of our technology firsthand, these stories show what it really means to build a career here. As Endoluminal Sales Director Emily Voigt puts it: “It’s the people that keep you at Intuitive. And it’s the mission that makes the hard work worth it.” We’ve gathered a few of the stories that defined our year—and that capture the purpose driving us all forward—in one place. Behind every groundbreaking advancement in healthcare are courageous voices. Yesterday surgeons and care team members were given the opportunity to attend the inaugural UK & Ireland Women in da Vinci Surgery meeting at the new Intuitive headquarters in Winnersh, Reading. Throughout the day, topics that many professionals experience but don’t always have the forum to discuss were explored – including imposter syndrome, gender bias, and practical strategies to build confidence and resilience in clinical and leadership settings. “This is more than an event – it’s a milestone. It creates a focused space for talented female surgeons to connect, learn and lead, and reinforces that surgery, especially da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery, must be accessible to all who have the skill and ambition. This isn’t symbolism; it’s a practical step toward a more capable, patient-centred and future-ready healthcare system.” – Inna Sokolova, Consultant Gynaecology Surgeon, NHS Ayrshire and Arran. Providing an opportunity to learn from one another, sharing experiences, and continuing to build a community that champions women in surgery, and beyond. That’s Intuitive. At St. Antonius Hospital in Gronau, Germany, Dr. Christian Wagner and Dr. Andreas Schütte are pioneers of robotic-assisted surgery. They are advancing what’s possible by bringing da Vinci 5 to patients across Europe and setting new standards for how surgical teams and patients experience minimally invasive care. By adopting technologies like da Vinci 5, which only became available in Europe in July, care teams at St. Antonius Hospital continue to shape surgical excellence—optimizing procedures and supporting outcomes for patients. "I aim to leverage all the potential of operational efficiencies da Vinci 5 offers to support my patients' recoveries," Dr. Wagner says. Intuitive envisions a future of surgery that is profoundly better and is committed to making minimally invasive care accessible across Europe. With our partners, we're transforming surgery, together.
Great surgery needs more than great technology. It takes people learning from each other—sharing what's working, what isn’t, and what’s next. That’s what the Intuitive Executive Summit is all about. It’s a meeting of peers—hospital executives and surgeon leaders—exchanging real stories and building trust. Working with Intuitive means stepping into a community built on real collaboration, practical support, and the drive to do better for patients.
Arjun Ramanujam didn’t set out to work in robotic surgery—his path to Intuitive started in a hospital room, when his mother was offered a da Vinci procedure that changed her recovery. Years later, he joined Intuitive and found a place where he could connect that experience to meaningful work. As senior director of Manufacturing Consumables, Arjun leads teams that build and launch our newest products, partnering across engineering, supply chain, and operations to bring innovation to customers around the world. What stands out most to him at Intuitive isn’t just the ingenuity and impact of the technology—it’s the opportunity to grow, and to help others grow with him. “I’m proud to be part of the journey. I’ve been able to contribute across functions, learn every day, and mentor the next generation of leaders.” His team gathers around the table to solve problems, share ideas, and look for the best solution together. Inclusion, curiosity, and ownership are essential to how they work—and how they build for the future. If you’re inspired by mission-driven work and want to develop your career alongside leaders who invest in you, we’d love to meet you. Explore open roles at Intuitive → https://lnkd.in/eASbTj3u
