Proud to join the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Genesis Mission as an industry partner, bringing GF's U.S. manufacturing platform and design enablement to the researchers building the next generation of AI and advanced computing. Led by GF Labs, we're opening our PDKs, device models and multi-project wafer program to the national labs, universities, industry partners and startups working under the mission — giving them a direct path from AI-enabled chip design to working prototype silicon. Thank you to Under Secretary Darío Gil and the entire Genesis Mission team for the partnership. Learn more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eH7GuF-z
What does it take to work on a technology where you don’t fully know the end application yet? Patrick Lo, Senior Fellow of Technology and Development at GlobalFoundries Asia Pacific, has spent his career answering that question. He leads silicon photonics R&D and shares what he looks for in engineers working at the intersection of light and semiconductor manufacturing. At GF, our people are the innovative engineers behind essential chip technology. Explore career opportunities worldwide: https://bit.ly/3Qzz7Gf
We're launching Quantum Technology Solutions — a new business inside GF dedicated to scaling the manufacturing capabilities the quantum industry needs to move from prototype to production. The past decade of high-performance computing was defined by advanced-node CPUs, GPUs and AI ASICs. The next is being defined by quantum. And that transition can only happen inside an advanced semiconductor manufacturing environment. It launches with current and future customers Diraq, Equal1, PsiQuantum and Quantum Motion and Quantinuum— with Google, Microsoft and NVIDIA also supporting the role of advanced semiconductor manufacturing in scaling quantum systems. The effort is supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, which has entered into a letter of intent to award GF $375 million through the CHIPS R&D Office to help accelerate the build-out. As Chris Miller noted in our announcement, a dedicated U.S. quantum foundry is exactly the kind of investment that turns American research leadership into durable industrial capability. That's the work ahead.
We’re announcing the introduction of our Silicon photonics Co-packaged Advanced Light Engine, or SCALE, optical module solution for co-packaged optics (CPO) and the first CPO solution capable of exceeding the Optical Compute Interconnect Multi-Source Agreement (OCI MSA) requirements for modern AI architectures. Our SCALE solution marks a milestone for GF amid the industry’s shift to CPO, accelerating the adoption of optical scale-up interconnects where bandwidth demands have outpaced what traditional electrical connections can deliver. This is part of our broader, longstanding commitment to advancing silicon photonics technologies and providing the manufacturing infrastructure for next-generation AI and data center connectivity. Ever wonder what makes memory design one of the most exciting corners of chip R&D? Mounica Jonnalagadda, an MTS design engineer on the MEM IP and design engineering team at GlobalFoundries India, lives it every day, and she's here to share what that actually looks like. From circuit-level simulation to pushing the boundaries of what memory can do at advanced nodes, Mounica's work is at the heart of chips powering the world. At GlobalFoundries, our people are the innovative engineers behind essential chip technology. Sound like your kind of challenge? We'd love to have you. GF has been named to the Forbes 2026 Net Zero Leaders list, recognized among companies leading the transition to a low-carbon economy. This is the fourth consecutive year Forbes has evaluated companies on meaningful, measurable climate progress, and this recognition reflects the progress GF teams deliver by embedding carbon‑free energy, advanced emissions controls and lower‑impact chemistries across our manufacturing operations. https://lnkd.in/ebEWtfMk
GF raised the bar. We now target a 42% cut in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030, up from 25%. In 2025, completed projects avoided approximately 105,000 metric tons of CO2e. That is the equivalent of removing roughly 23,000 cars from the road. See how our teams are delivering across energy, water, emissions and waste in our latest blog. https://lnkd.in/gR8vJaxn
Our teams saved approximately 76 million kWh of electricity last year. That is enough to power roughly 7,000 U.S. homes for a full year. It adds up to approximately 25,000 metric tons of CO2e avoided and millions in cost savings. Click the post to learn more.
