What Elsevier and 6 other companies are doing to help combat climate change. Elsevier is deeply committed to taking action on climate and our actions can be summarized into three categories; the first is to take action on our direct emissions and cut the carbon impact of our own operations and policies. Since 2010, we have achieved a 70% reduction in location-based emissions, and in 2021, we signed the Climate Pledge to ensure we are net zero for indirect ( scope 3 emissions) by 2040, a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement. The second area of action is to support scholarly communication and dialogue around climate change, energy transition, and other important areas such as biodiversity and climate resilience through our quality books and journals.
