Delivering clean drinking water to our customers while keeping our people safe is our top priority – and it’s what our customers tell us they care about most, too. In the face of population growth, ageing infrastructure and increasingly unpredictable and warm weather putting significant pressure on the UK’s water networks, collaboration is key to tackling these challenges. That's why our alliancing model is at the heart of our capital delivery strategy. Our new Integrated Maintenance, Repair and Developer Services (IMRDS) alliance, builds on this principle and marks the continuation of a 9 year relationship, with the exciting prospect of a further 6 years of collaboration between Anglian Water, Kier Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks and Clancy. With each partner offering specialised expertise, IMRDS will bring together the best person and team for each job, ensuring we can give our customers the best service possible in the most effective and efficient way. Dave Ward, Director of IMRDS, said: “Whether it’s through proactively renewing our network, protecting our most vulnerable mains from the effects of climate change, or ensuring that people moving into their newly built homes are safely connected to mains water, the IMRDS alliance will continue to play a fundamental role in delivering water to customers’ taps over the next five years. #NationalVolunteersWeek is here, and we’re excited to be celebrating the spirit of giving back to communities across the region. This week some of our colleagues rolled up their sleeves to take part in a litter pick in Peterborough to support a local RiverCare & BeachCare group, where they collected and cleared a large amount of rubbish along the banks of the River Nene, making a real difference to the local community and environment. But it isn’t just volunteer’s week where our colleagues get involved. All year round our people give their time and skills through our employee volunteering programme Love to Help. Anglian Water recognises that volunteering doesn't just have a huge positive impact on the places we live and work, it is also important for our staff and their wellbeing. That’s why our volunteering programme offers employees time each year to spend doing volunteering activities, either as part of a team or individually. Love to Help enables our people to support causes they are passionate about, and make a difference to their local environment. Volunteering is about more than just giving back – it's about coming together. It is one of the many benefits of working at Anglian Water. Last financial year, our colleagues collectively volunteered 600 days and supported nearly 100 not-for-profit organisations. As part of our yearly wellbeing plan, we’ve been hosting webinars and sharing advice for colleagues around the importance of physical health and how we can look after ourselves. Last week we hosted a webinar for colleagues to break the stigma around men’s physical health and were joined by ex-professional rugby player Kenny Logan who spoke about his personal journey with prostate cancer. He busted some myths around what’s involved in prostate screening and spoke about the importance of getting tested and looking after ourselves. Thank you Kenny for joining us and talking about such an important topic with our colleagues. Over the next couple of months we’re continuing the conversation around the importance of physical health before we start to look at social wellbeing in the summer.
