84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately held supplier of building materials, manufactured components and industry-leading services, has been named to Newsweek’s America’s Most Patriotic Companies 2026 list. The recognition honors 500 employers that put patriotism into action by supporting service members, veterans and American communities, while demonstrating a strong commitment to ethical standards.
84 Lumber is proud to recognize and honor the service of its associate military veterans Matt Hime, an outside sales coordinator at its Sarasota, Florida location, and Joe Stewart, a manager trainee at its Guilderland, New York store. In recognition of National Military Appreciation Month, the company is highlighting the importance of hiring and supporting veterans. According to the Department of Labor, roughly 200,000 military members transition out of the armed services each year. Many face challenges when reentering the workforce, including navigating the civilian job market and finding meaningful career opportunities. A survey of 1,000 U.S. military veterans found that respondents face an average of three major challenges during this transition. Finding a job ranked as the top hurdle, with 33 percent citing it as their biggest obstacle. Other challenges included leaving behind military relationships and finding a purposeful career (28 percent each). At 84 Lumber, veterans play a significant role in the company’s success. Their leadership, discipline, and commitment to excellence closely align with the company’s culture and values.

It’s why we were named to Newsweek's Most Trustworthy Companies in America list for the third consecutive year. As America approaches its 250th anniversary, building this country means something different from where we sit. It’s the associates who show up every day, the builders who trust us, and the communities we help create. I am proud to kick off 84 Lumber's Building America250 series with this first post." -Maggie Hardy, Owner & CEO Read Maggie's full blog at the link below.
