Flexible schedule, bonuses at the time. Friendly people to work with. Started as in intern while going to college, and was brought on full-time.
Cons
The culture really changed over the seven years I worked there. There were a lot of layoffs, and jobs were outsourced to India (and later most were brought back to in-house). Sad, because it was an amazing place to work prior to that.
Casual work environment in the I.T. dept. Decent people work there.
Cons
Yum does not consider I.T. to be a "core competency" of the company. I.T. is mostly viewed as a cost to be managed rather than a high value. steep layoffs caused poor morale and conditions of everyone being overworked and stressed.
Bonus structure was excellent for salaried employees, as a senior worker bee my target bonus was 8%, which even in bad years was a decent lump of cash.
Excellent amenities for workers.
Decent health insurance plan. Was awesome, now just competitive.
Cons
Lots of 9-5 mentality. Heroes that fix problems they create get recognized. Big annual layoffs and restructuring for the last 4-5 years I was there. Not much challenge for a technical person. Big emphasis on style over substance. Recognition culture went from fun to lip service to a horrible chore.
