84% positive business outlook
Pros
As a long standing employee (around 14 years service), and having worked in both the Service and Sales dept I have certainly had a well rounded and balanced exposure to the entire business. Throughout my Career, both I and my family have received nothing but support from Senior Management. The CEO and MD are very grounded people and are always open to listening to feedback regardless of the nature. They have supported my training and development and always gave me something to work towards. The biggest 'pro' for me, is the people. Everyone believes in doing the right thing and it really is one big team effort. They are friends both in and out of work and this for me is the most important aspect as I spend 5 days a week with them! I am a believer of 'you get out what you put in' approach and this is certainly an ethos of the company.
Cons
Parking spaces are tight, but this will be resolved with the new office. And on this note the involvement the staff have had with the configuration and setup/layout of the new office has been fantastic. Senior Management have reached out for feedback on this topic more than I expected.
Pros
- Excellent benefits - Friendly staff - Approachable management - State of the art office - Fun social events These are just some of the reasons why I love working for Utilize. Although I haven't been here long, I couldn't recommend Utilize enough and hope to have many happy and successful years here.
Cons
That I didn't start working for Utilize earlier.
Pros
Friendly Team and Environment: The sense among colleagues at Utilize is very good. Everyone is approachable, helpful, and creates a warm and inclusive work environment that fosters collaboration. Exposure to a Variety of Technologies: You will find yourself surrounded by cutting-edge technologies. This exposure allows employees to learn and grow rapidly, making it an ideal workplace for those eager to stay ahead in their careers. Supportive On-the-Floor Managers: The on-the-floor managers (Service Management) are incredible mentors. If you ever find yourself stuck or in need of guidance, they are readily available to point you in the right direction and support your professional development. Perks and Benefits: Free coffee, tea, and fresh fruits to monthly feed-the-team events. Employee Well-being: Offering free counseling services and comprehensive medical insurance (like Vitality) and gym benefits showcases the company's commitment to the holistic health of its workforce. State-of-the-Art Building: The state-of-the-art building is not only aesthetically pleasing but also designed with employee comfort and productivity in mind.
Cons
Lack of Understanding in Personal Situations: In some personal situations, such as funerals, the company's response lacked empathy and was instead met with rigidity in enforcing policies. This caused distress among some team members and left room for improvement in handling such delicate situations with more compassion and flexibility. Lack of Flexibility in Shifts and Long Hours: The fixed shift schedule and long working hours can be challenging for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Offering more flexibility in shift timings and allowing shorter lunch breaks could help employees achieve a better balance between their personal and professional lives. Disconnection between Management and Frontline Staff: There seems to be a disconnect between the management and the employees working on the ground. Senior management may not be fully aware of the day-to-day challenges faced by the team. Allowing senior directors to spend time working with the team during busy days could provide valuable insights and foster a more understanding work environment. Limited Availability of Community and Development Days: While the company offers Community Days and Development Days, the frequent restriction of these opportunities due to staff shortages can be frustrating for team members. It's essential to ensure that such initiatives are consistently available to employees as promised, to maintain their motivation and engagement. Limited Career Progression Opportunities: Advancement opportunities within the company are perceived to be limited, with progression often relying more on personal relationships with managers rather than solely on performance. This can lead to talented team members seeking opportunities elsewhere for growth, which may contribute to the reported staff turnover. Challenges with Pay Reviews: Pay reviews appear to be infrequent and poorly executed, leaving some employees without a clear understanding of their compensation growth. Aligning pay increases with inflation rates and aiming higher than market-level salaries could boost employee morale and retention.
Pros
Good basic salary with increases yearly, opportunity to learn and work on different technologies and management team are motivating to work for.
Cons
I am based in the South East and would occassionaly like to travel around the UK if the opportunity came along.
Pros
- Great staff who have been there a long time - Monthly lunches - Reasonable pay - Management seem reasonable and fair - Feedback gets listened to - They know where they are going and what they want
Cons
- Doesn’t suit everyone as you can tell by some of the comments on here - They hang on to people who don’t pull their weight too long which effects morale - Need a bigger office - Could probably spend more time on training in the early days. Big product stack and client base to learn
Pros
Good salary, trusting environment where its employees are valued. I like working on a range of different clients systems, some customers can be challenging but it pushes me to learn more. Management are very supportive and encourage self-development.
Cons
As it's a 24hr support company sometimes completing my support tickets can run into the evenings. I do have the option to pause the support ticket and pickup the next day, but personally I like to resolve the tickets fast. I am appreciated at the same time.
Pros
I have been working here for more than 10 years now and it's safe to say I love my job. Working here has not just given me a career, it’s given me an extended family and without them I would not be the person I am today. I started here as a shy, quiet individual fresh out of college, I’m now the total opposite and have gained so much confidence in everything. The people here are great, a very supportive network of people regardless of job title. The atmosphere here at HQ is always energetic, focused and positive. We all have the same passion for top notch customer service, the desire to lead from the front with leading technology and support each other through the highs and the (thankfully very few!) lows. Both the MD and CEO are true leaders, extremely supportive and encouraging of all staff members goals, personal and professional. The CEO having founded the company over 20 years ago passionately lives and breathes what we do. The Group MD is always forward thinking and embraces change and new technologies to help us and the company continue to grow. Through dedication and hard work I have always been given the opportunity to progress through the company and prove myself, training (both in house and off site) has always been arranged where I needed it to help my personal growth. Although I am free to run with my strengths I receive structured support to improve on my weaknesses and push myself, which without the support of my senior management colleagues and my direct line manager (the MD) I would not be in the position I am now. It’s also worth noting I have never been pressured to become someone I am not, I have always been myself. We put on a monthly lunch (FOC) for staff, hold monthly ‘dress down’ days in aid of charity, offer a Cycle to Work scheme and hold an annual Christmas Conference and Celebration. We play as hard as we work. In summary if you are a driven individual that works well as a team but can follow up with own initiative then this is the place for you.
Cons
Office can be crowded at times, could do with more space
Pros
During the Coronavirus management have given us every support possible. Even those staff Furloughed, including me our salary has been topped up to 100%. We have also been given free counselling sessions, access to a free financial advisor, free work out sessions. We have been receiving updates from the Managing Director Guy Hocking every week explaining the stats on the business. The CEO Warren Davis also called me to check in. Although, I'm relatively new to the company Utilize puts my past employer to shame. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the team when lockdown eases.
Cons
Coronavirus has meant that I work from home, can't wait to return to the office.
