Working with the Agricultural Producers in our county was rewarding.

Wading through the government bureaucracy and changing rules and a change of emphasis in our work was frustrating.

Decent health insurance plans, traditional M-F workweek, strong union that just implemented paid maternity leave for new mothers, adoptive parents, and foster parents.

Cons

Racist coworkers. Racist customers. Lots of gossip, backbiting, and general office b.s. I had zero trust in my boss or coworkers. Think of all the awful stereotypes you’ve heard about small town busybodies and then multiply it by a factor of 20. Reliance on subjective “metrics” to evaluate job performance. Archaic software, ridiculous reliance on paper records, and a General refusal to accept any attempts at modernization.

Pros

Love working with Farmers and Ranchers as office manager. Love working with the elected county committee, my local bosses.

Cons

The FEDS, the politically appointed people who only help themselves. It is a joke anymore. Fraud waste and abuse is rampant in my opinion. Then when you complain, look out it is retaliation. Best to just sit on your butt and earn a check not making waving waves.
