Do not work where

Pros

free food for lunch for the week

Cons

some of the worst leadership i've seen, management overworks their employees, and very little growth at the company. Privately own which could be good, but this family doesn't treat their employees with respect, even some of their most dedicated ones. Bad accounting, meaning, sometimes they give their products to their clients before they even receive the payment, paid one of their employees under the minimum wage for an extended polaroid of time, which is illegal.

Traumatizing at best

Pros

Anything is what you make of it, so if you decide to take it upon yourself to learn as much as you can, it can be very useful to you later. Just don’t expect extra compensation for it. The things you learn here, depending on your position, can be valuable for your next job. You will also make amazing industry connections that can help you find your next job. (Emphasis on next job because you definitely don’t want to stay here) Some of the people working here are great and you will definitely bond through shared trauma from this place. Sometimes you get to travel.

Cons

Where do I begin? First, I’ll start with pay since management likes to pretend people don’t work for money/ don’t have bills to pay. The pay is an absolute insult. The “generous” raises they give you are also a joke, and you’re guilt tripped into not asking for them and feeling so grateful that you even got one. Just imagine, these people didn’t even know what the minimum wage was, or pretended not to when I was getting interviewed because they tried to lowball me so hard. They prefer to pay you a salary and for all the wrong reasons. This position requires you to connect with customers overseas and on different time zones so you can expect to work long or abnormal hours at no extra pay. You can also expect to be in long pointless meetings with the owner going on and on about himself (and nothing to do with your work) that extend well over the 8-4 schedule at no extra pay. Work life balance is not a thing here. The owners have the NASTIEST attitudes. THE WORST!!! Tantrums, insults, racist remarks, sexist/ sexually predatory comments. I mean just everything in the books that’ll make you feel uncomfortable, it’s here, it’s constant, and it’s LOUD! Expect to hear loud yelling in the office and have to apologize to the people you’re training because your boss acts like a 4 year old. Expect to feel second hand embarrassment because your boss makes very inappropriate sexual comments directed at a woman in your presence and then the woman looks at you and asks you in front of everyone “how do you stand this guy?” They trash on their employees and customers alike. These people have no integrity, or even basic manners it seems. Or maybe they just think they’re so much better than everyone else that they won’t display them with you, only with those that drop the big $tacks. It’s pathetic and unacceptable in this day and age. I still get nightmares about working in this place. They cut the health benefits (during a pandemic) and free lunch which were supposed to make up for the low pay. At the start of the pandemic, the owner talked about how much business they were making with factories selling masks and PPE, then complained about the company not doing well so he had to cut benefits and not give raises, then showed up to work in his brand new Bentley…. Seriously can’t make this stuff up. I had coworkers who I knew made less than minimum wage. I had coworkers who I’d witness work extra long hours on tight deadlines and then I’d have to witness them getting reprimanded, and even humiliated for “not working hard enough”. I can go on and on but if this isn’t enough to turn you away, just please don’t stay long enough to let things like this not bother you. There are so many places that’ll value your work and treat you better. They go on and on about how the company is “family” and it very much is, it’s a just like a dysfunctional and extremely abusive family.
