Pros

This was an okay job for starting work in a nonprofit. There are advancement opportunities, too.

Cons

The organization is really big on advancing equity. If you're a person of color, they will probably hire you. The POC quota is to have 40%. They literally have this quota. Rather than assessing your skills, they'll just look at your skin color. It's an equity process that is inadvertently racist. Plus, the senior leadership is all white. I'd be much more willing to believe TPI actually cared about race if 40% of senior leadership were POC. Once again, it's a bunch of educated liberal white people trying to be woke.

Pros

Learn the ropes See if you can hack it Meet your team and best allies

Cons

The upper management is so disconnected from the population they serve - they do more harm to their employees than good. EVERY instance of the employees quitting or suffering I saw could have been resolved with some communication and empathy from upper management/admin.

Pros

Changing lives, compassionate coworkers and managers. All around altruistic work.

Cons

I was assaulted at work, there comes a time when managers need to recognize that a client is not well enough to be one on one without direct medical supervision or some sort of buffer. I was extremely uncomfortable semi-frequently. I am a woman in her twenties, not easily spooked, but this job haunts me. Some of the people we served were seriously dangerous and the help they need was far beyond the capacity of staff. I hope for brighter days for our nations homeless. Young women beware of your health and safety before accepting this specific role.
