Growing quickly, not enough space for everyone in offices. Pay is very low.

Pros

This is a non-profit organization located in a small town that throughout my time there I came to see as incredibly important to the growing Latino community in the area. The employees and volunteers are compassionate, patient and lively. I could see that people did the employees did their best with the resources that were afforded to them. Managment is understanding if things come up in life, like family obligations and flexing time is possible. Benefits package and personal time were also good.

Cons

As this is growing non-profit in the area, with a relatively small team, as of when I left, things fall through the cracks on occasion. The main issue I found myself having there had to do with miscommunication between different areas of the non-profit. Attempts were made to try to make sure people knew that there would be repercussions if things were not done correctly, but what was more necessary was a detailed guide addressing the specific steps needed in order to avoid mistakes. Thankfully, a few were made, but it did take a while.

Pros

Good manager. Supportive co-workers who go above and beyond.

Cons

I notice TIP keeps this space nicely manicured, removing honest input which might not be 100% complimentary. One person in management is mean to others. Since she is close friends with the ED, her poor behavior will always be protected nor matter your evidence and witnesses, and you, dear sir, will be out of a job. Others are too scared to speak up for themselves. This is a perfect example of why a union is so important, even in a non-profit.
