Poor Company Culture, lots of over hours.

Pros

Commitment to delivery: There is strong pressure to deliver outcomes quickly, which can sometimes help push projects forward. Visibility of work: C-levels actively monitor progress and ask questions about blockers, ensuring tasks don’t fall completely off the radar.

Cons

Excessive pressure and lack of balance - Leadership consistently pushes for speed without considering quality, proper testing, or the realities of dependencies (QA, DevOps, merges). - Questions around availability (e.g., suggesting a vacation simply because of a missed call) create unnecessary pressure. Micro-management and lack of autonomy - Technical discussions are often dismissed instead of engaging in the reasoning. - Managers frequently step into tactical details, reducing ownership and accountability. Low trust and recognition - Even when you explain long working hours or proactive actions, responses tend to question your effort rather than acknowledge it. - Feedback in these conversations focuses on gaps and misalignments, with very little recognition of your contributions. Organizational inefficiency - Responsibilities between Engineering, QA, and DevOps are not clearly defined. This creates recurring conflicts over ownership. - Lack of clear processes for deployment, testing, and API validation results in confusion and wasted time. Poor communication culture - Replies that signal a lack of collaboration and respect. - Urgency is often imposed without context, which undermines constructive dialogue and fosters a lack of understanding. The environment reflected in these conversations can be described as toxic and unsustainable, characterized by high demands, low trust, and poor organizational clarity. While delivery speed is emphasized, it comes at the cost of quality, collaboration, and employee well-being.

Pros

* Some brilliant people work here. * The product has real potential. * You can learn a lot quickly because you are thrown into the deep end. * Good place to build resilience, if nothing else.

Cons

* Leadership expects small teams to perform like fully staffed departments. * Teams are under-resourced, then blamed for not delivering impossible expectations. * Public criticism is normalised. * Employees are talked down to in group settings. * Feedback often comes too late, too vaguely, or only when leadership is already unhappy. * Performance management can feel unfair, sudden, and disconnected from actual ownership. * Expertise is hired, then ignored. * Decisions are often made by people who do not understand the function they are overruling. * “Ownership” often means being handed responsibility without authority. * Raising concerns can make you look like the problem. * There is very little psychological safety. * Turnover is high because the culture burns people out. * The company treats chaos as ambition.
