Pros

The mission-the idea is a pro but it’s not executed well.

Cons

The gaslighting. As anyone can see from the “5 star reviews” there is an enormous amount of gaslighting at this company. Saying people can’t keep up and that’s why they were fired? Come on, company politics, favoritism and many other things I can’t write here are to blame, not the employees. There was a lot of promise going into role at wagestream. After a while though, realizing it is NOT there for the mission and only to line the management and investors pockets, you realize how intense the gaslighting is until you finally have the guts to move on.

Pros

They pay OK. The work is kinda hybrid. People at the bottom are nice.

Cons

There is clearly a push to counter-act the negative reviews, it's kinda sad. The other negative reviews are right, they've said it better than I can. They might also access your "private" Slack DMs if they wish. They love firing people ("getting people off the bus" as they call it), as long as they are not in the clique, if you are, they'll keep people around way beyond their usefulness. Better get ready to do some bootlicking. The people with long tenure are mostly those who had pre-existing relations with those in the senior leadership, i.e. nepotism. Leadership also on the Musk kool-aid.

Pros

- The mission of the app, financial wellbeing - Central office location - Monday-Friday 9-5pm - Friendly staff in the team - Decent money despite the gender pay divide

Cons

- Interesting morals - Rethink expensive socials with an open bar and funded trains 2 working days before laying off 10 staff - Could have improved communication about planned redundancies which were planned months in advance - Senior members were flying to USA & Australia 2 weeks after the first round of mass redundancies - No support for staff wellbeing or MH, no one cared or listened - Bullying culture within management, our manager was unfairly dismissed
