Pros

Paychecks on time. Parking is ok. Some opportunities to learn new technologies.

Cons

Pay is much lower than the market rate. Very few vacation days. Not very bright colleagues. Frequent overtime. *********************** I strongly believe that the company is artificially inflating its ratings. Look at review trends and you will see that the company magically moved from a 2.7 rating to 3.5 (which is on par with Google/Facebook.). ************************

Thank you for the feedback. I believe you should discuss the above comments with your manager, the People Operations department, or anyone on the Executive Leadership Team, as members of all of these groups have an open door policy. If none of those avenues are appealing I would be happy to discuss the areas you feel need improvement; email me any time at jeffb@spectralogic.com. I do feel it is necessary to address some of the issues you posted. Due to Glassdoor’s methodology, no company can artificially influence its company rank or ratings. Spectra recently became a paying member of the Glassdoor community so we can follow and respond to postings, and identify concerns found on the site. We use the feedback for discussion in cross-departmental meetings to promote employee satisfaction. I have talked to numerous people in regards to pay and have found that in a company SL’s size and market we do pay comparable salaries. You also commented about the vacation policy. Your employee handbook or manager can discuss the vacation plan, which increases with an associates tenure at the company. Again, I think it would be beneficial for you to discuss your concerns with someone on a team listed above.

Toxic Culture

Pros

None that can possibly outweigh cons.

Cons

Get on board with the good ol' boy hiney kissing machine, or forget about being successful. Even then, your 'success' will be limited to the confines of the culture. Professional skill degradation is assured - NOT a good career move, in ANY regard!!! "Process" is a du jour concept, vs. a management mission to ensure repeatable outputs. Company that needs to be crossed off your potential employer list!!!

Thank you for your candid assessment of Spectra. While we do not like to hear of dissatisfied associates, we also know we are in the midst of a cultural shift and it takes time. It has sometimes been described as ‘changing a tire on the bus while it’s driving down the highway.’ We have had false starts, yet we are committed to the long term success of Spectra. It can be a painful process and it isn’t always smooth. Progress happens when groups become teams, and teammates have tough conversations with peers and leaders to hold each other accountable to rising expectations. Not everyone has the courage and willingness to do that, yet we are working on making Spectra a great place to work and grow. Best wishes to you.

Pros

If you like working in a negative, fear-based environment - by all means apply!

Cons

Senior management has blamed employees for subpar product. Senior management has patrolled the cubes to place fear into them to work harder. Compensation lower then other tech companies in the area. Limited to not potential for career growth. The company moral and work environment is very negative. Above average employee turnover - there is a reason why they are hiring. Based more upon hierarchy and not on employee input

Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate you had such a negative experience working for Spectra Logic. If you are still with the company, I would suggest discussing your situation with our People Operations team, your manager, or any member of our executive leadership team. They are a great resource for Spectra associates. Having worked at Spectra for several years, I do not see a negative environment or a company run by fear. However, there are high expectations regarding associate performance, whch is common in a fast-paced technology corporate environment. This expectation is across all departments in the company. If you wish to discuss your review further please email me at jeffb@spectralogic.com.
