Pros

Nice accounts. Social media team is very nice, super smart and organized.

Social Method is a joke agency! Today, I quit after a week because I knew I was going to be fired (I found out that I was going to be terminated by HR later on). Being fired after one week with zero warning or conversation about performance, cultural fit etc., is all anyone needs to know about working at Social Method. I was smart enough to quit and not give them the satisfaction. Luckily, I had another job offer. There is zero respect for new incoming employees. I never received a call from the CEO Rob Jewell to work things out, before they decided to just get rid of me after 1 week on the job. I requested to go over my concerns and seek advice on how to best work with my co-worker. Instead they just made moves to get rid of me (After the tasks I did for them during this week). I never even spoke over the phone with the CEO Rob Jewell, who I can only guess was my boss (I am not sure, which clearly says it all). We are in the middle of a global health pandemic (Covid-19) with racial riots across the country and they didn't even care to make things at Social Method work with me (The only African-American employee within the agency). Luckily, I had another job offer so I wasn't unemployed and back on the job hunt with zero income (Either way, my financial safety wasn't on their mind because they handled my employment in such an unethical and disgusting manner). Be careful when applying to Social Method's search marketing team. One of the red flags is, there's a lot of consultants and not many full-time staff members. I was their only full-time search marketer, with the most advanced experience in SEM and managing teams/clients. The point person on this team is not equipped to on-board new senior-level employees accordingly. There is no team structure or interest in developing strong team processes to best service clients and build out the SEM team. The point person in this department is clueless about some of these accounts, which they themselves have admitted. Communication and follow up skills on the search team is lacking, when it comes to working directly with clients. Moves are made with campaigns, without the clients approval which understandably infuriates them. When I left, a few of the women I met here were super nice. However, after I departed the company they blocked me on LinkedIn for no reason. People here are not genuine. It's clearly a facade. They are not what they say they are. Keep this in mind before selecting a job here. The employee contract has some gross elements. It states that they have a sole right to change your compensation/employee benefits package at anytime on a prospective basis. It's things like this, that show the CEO's lack of commitment or care for his employees. The CEO's signature isn't even on the employment contract. The HR Manager is the only person who signs the employment contract. I've never seen an employee contract where the CEO isn't listed (This alone is a red flag). Also, the Social Method NDA doesn't mention that employees can't apply to jobs that current Social Method clients might have open. It states that you can't solicit them for business. However, HR told me in-person that they'll still take action against you legally if you apply for the job. It's very clear that they are ruthless in how they handle their employees. Be careful at Social Method. The CEO Rob Jewell only cares about himself and will toss his employees out. It seems he's drafted his contracts in a way that makes sure his employees do not benefit from anything, after they've left his company (compensation commitment, benefits commitment, job hunting opportunities if they are terminated out of nowhere etc.). Big agencies would never do anything like this. My experience here made me respect and value big corporate companies. They would never pull a cowardly move like terminating an employee after 1 week or threatening to prevent compensation or future job opportunities at other companies. You'd have to do something pretty horrible, like stealing or not showing up to work for a big agency to terminate you after 1 week. I was furloughed at Dentsu Aegis Network. I was offered a new role at the same company the morning I resigned at Social Method. I didn't hesitate to accept their offer. I resigned from Social Method immediately afterwards. I never had any issues at DAN, especially nothing like this in week 1 of a job. I am a better work style and personality fit for large, corporate agencies. The CEO Rob Jewell has started a lot of companies. The first lasted for 9 years and the second lasted for 5 years. Social Method agency started in 2015. It's fairly new. However, if he's terminating the most qualified employees he has after 1 week without trying to make it work, I don't see the agency being around for another 10 years with a growing client roster. It seems very family oriented here. Everyone looks alike and acts the same. It's clear that the CEO has a type of woman he hires. Super sweet, quirky, white women with super boutique agency backgrounds who don't have an entrepreneurial spirit. I am a very nice person, but I'm also a corporate professional and a black woman. I like competency, structure, diversity and thoughtfulness when working with people.

Pros

Overall a great place to work – interesting clients, amazing co-workers, work hard play hard mentality, upper management support and transparency, solid benefits. Also, the company has been really fortunate to have grown a lot in the last couple of months (both with bringing in new business and hiring employees) so a major pro is job stability!

Cons

Personally, I don't see too many cons if any. The company has just outgrown the start-up number of employees, but that mentality is still very much around. If that isn't what you're looking for then that might be a con, but I love it.

Pros

My experience at Social Method has been nothing short of wonderful. My colleagues welcomed me with open arms and have been incredibly supportive. The leadership and management styles are truly some of the best I've experienced. I love the work I do and am proud to be apart of this team. This company believes in helping you hone your skills to be the best and excel in your position.
