Not worth the jump

Pros

Building amenities, compensation, company name The Ogilvy name has a nice ring to it and will look great on your resume. Compensation tend to be on the higher side to make up for the cons. The building is massive and has a gym, cafe, rooftop, ping pong tables, medical office on site (location is another topic).

Cons

No support from management, lack of communication, work-life balance, office location, discouraging morale Social lab isn't managed the same way Ogilvy is, it is very separate from the rest of the business. The management is almost a like dictatorship where one person controls everything and can get very political. The morale of upper management may be discouraging when help and support is limited and seem nonexistent. Communication across teams are lacking and everyone has enough on their plate to bat an eye on your questions/concerns. The hours spent in the office just isn't worth the compensation. Also, while the building has great amenities - the location may not be enticing for some. No close train stations nearby so the best way to commute is by taking the shuttle buses to a station.

There are better social agencies...

Pros

-Smart group of people -Ogilvy name has a nice ring on your resume

Cons

Ogilvy in general is not what it used to be, and unfortunately, the decision to acquire Social.Lab was a huge miss. They've been with Ogilvy for a few years now, and they still act like a startup. With the backing of one of the largest agencies in the world, you'd think they would have assimilated better by now. -The team is incredibly disorganized, the leadership is young and very inexperienced at growing teams and client business. -They keep brining people from their Belgium HQ to grow various teams in the US, but unfortunately they don't know the US market very well, and are unable to win new business. -Most of the media clients are leaving and going to GroupM, so if that's your specialty, steer clear. -The training is minimal, you're forced to practically onboard yourself onto accounts. -No accountability at all -Managers complain about the responsbility of managing teams instead of rising to the occassion. They're more interested in being promoted quickly than the work they're doing. (Part of the problem with a startup mentality) Unless you're on a large account that has a lot of visibility and leadership support, you're completely inconsequential to them, which makes it difficult for your growth. There are honestly better places to work.
