Pros
Pros: Well, the office was nice, in the sense that it has a trendy vibe to it, and that it’s close to all the fancy places in the west loop. The only other thing I personally saw is that I learned a lot from other specialists about their respective fields, which helped me learn more and change my thinking.
Cons
I waited a long time to think though why SoMeConnect wasn’t for me, but ultimately it comes down to a few things - No standard process to...anything really. You will get assigned a client, get into the weeds of your work, and report on it to management, only for it to get lost in the shuffle of various managers who also need to review and approve before any action is actually allowed. Ultimately leading to the client not getting what they want and just making it all sorts of awkward - Honestly, most of (but not all) of management can’t digital market their way out of a paper bag. They will know how to say the latest buzzwords and then mention something about great creative opportunities, but I could only recall a few individuals that actually had been in the weeds of various platforms to do the work and talk about it intelligently - Track All The Time: Track every little detail, to not get anything better on how you were assigned to what clients or why. Also, you get a lunch, but you need to make up for that time too. Not really such a thing as a 9 to 5 here , no personal time will be respected, wither it’s for family emergencies, personal issues or whatever life throws at you. To anyone looking to hire SoMe Connect as an agency, think twice, or three times, or whatever you need to do to be seriously sure that they will be successful for you. Make sure they know what metrics matter and can back up their information. To anyone who is applying here, this will be an interesting opportunity, but make sure to get some sort of plan in place or writing so that you can use this to grow later
