Pros
New CEO Rick pivoted to SaaS, it should have happened years before.
Cons
Sometimes, we can pull long hours.
Pros
A nice, new office space with lots of snacks. Some of the employees are really smart and hardworking, though they aren't really in leadership roles and are few and far between.
Cons
Horrible pay. Like I honestly don't understand how they can justify this little pay for people who work tirelessly for the company. Huge and frequent layoffs with little respect for those who have contributed years to the company which is a huge morale killer. There is absolutely no job security. The CEO and previous CEO are terrible people. Both have had/currently have several investigations for misconduct in the work place. Most people in leadership roles should not be in leadership roles. Poor leadership has resulted in many issues within the company making productivity terrible. The people in this company are some of the most inexperienced and unprofessional people I've ever encountered. This company is marketed as a tech company but honestly it's just a temporary staffing company marketed to look like a tech company. Don't be misguided. Ultimately, the company has no direct but down.
Pros
Casual dress code, snacks and beer!
Cons
The biggest con is the staff they are providing is predominantly for hospitality events and there is not 1 person left in the Shiftgig office with a background in hospitality. It is a joke. All the internal staff that actually cared and communicated with the specialists were let go by the new CEO right before Christmas. ( What a guy ) Staffing is done like a cattle call resulting in inexperienced specialists tasked with jobs they do not know how to do and they are set up for failure from jump. The upper management has no communication down the line and spend their days having meetings about...well having more meetings.
Pros
- New amazing CEO and leadership team - Great company culture - Nice work benefits (unlimited vacation!) - Everyone is working towards the same goal, which makes everyone want to work harder and smarter. All departments work together to make sure everyone is on the same page with any decisions made - In the past month, you can feel how amazing the energy has become
Cons
I don't have any cons for working at Shiftgig
Pros
A few passionate people left, a nice office, flexible PTO
Cons
Shiftgig WAS once a place that had a group of people excited about the gig economy, people passionate about making a difference in specialist lives and in general shaking up the staffing world. NOW- Shiftgig (what is left of it) is filled with unmotivated individuals, who have no idea what they are doing. The people left are clearly taking a note from the CEO and acting like they’re doing something but, in reality, they are just waiting till the clock hits FOUR (yes, 4 pm) to leave. Wade has taken a great thing, and single handily ran it into the ground. There are a few good people left, but pretty soon with Wade's leadership, Shiftgig will be no more. There’s little hope that someone will take action and step up to do what’s best for Shiftgig.
Pros
They just got a nice, new office and there are lots of snacks. Some of the employees are really smart and hardworking. Now that they've centralized operations, they may be more effective, though who knows. The new CEO seems to be smart, though it did suck to lose my job because of him.
Cons
I was one of the 75 employees laid off in December, though I was desperately looking for another job when it happened. I'm sure there is an element of sour grapes to my review, but I will try to be as truthful as possible. During my time at Shiftgig, I worked with some of the most inexperienced and unprofessional people I've ever encountered. I get that it's a startup so they couldn't afford to pay much, but given its potential, they should have been more discerning in their hiring practices. I'd like to preface this by saying that most of the people I'm describing here are really, really good human beings. I have no personal animus toward them, but as coworkers, they were a drain and an obstacle. The people I worked with sometimes dressed really inappropriately, said immature and inappropriate things, were so cynical and jaded that they were a pain to work with, had little in the way of good ideas, or a combination thereof. The irony is that almost every single one of these folks was allowed to keep their jobs. Some even got promoted. I assume it's because they are inexpensive and pliable. When the new CEO came in, he mentioned how important top talent is, even if it costs more, so I expected the layoffs to include at least some of these employees. Instead, many, many of them got to stay. The executive team leaves a lot to be desired. Very little leadership or guidance, even less accountability (unless it directly relates to profit). I would say more, but it would be too specific for Glassdoor's guidelines.
Pros
Truly some of the hardest working people you can imagine, especially when you look at the embarrassing amount they pay. Great team effort and at the end of the day, the people along side of you become family.
Cons
Sadly, 6 months ago it all went downhill! I would say the crap pay was worth it for the passion and teamwork you had in the office, however, since the new CEO took over this place is horrible. He is never in the office and flies around the world constantly while we work 50 hour weeks and everyone around us constantly gets laid off with no warning or merit. Before he took over it was a really great place to work but he has rn this company into the ground. We have lost more than half of our clients and have not made a profit in months because of how short staffed we are.
Pros
There are some great people working there and a few of the execs are great. CTO is great.
Cons
CEO has no idea what is happening and he's never there. When he is there he's in his office. He laid people off but has a personal assistant to get him his lunch. If you are going to be a tech company, maybe increase your engineering team, not shrink it.
Pros
The CEO is passionate and committed to moving the organization forward. The staffing industry is ready for this technology! The current team is driven to help Shiftgig pivot and grow.
Cons
Pivoting any organization is tough but they are focused.
