Pros

Friendly people across all states and head office - I met some great friends here. Beautiful views from all locations across the world. Above average salaries and encouragement to complete courses.

Cons

Great people get stuck in this company and feel they can't leave. In my time at the company I experienced many upset people (across various departments and AU states) who felt trapped as the pay and promotion within most areas is pretty good and makes it hard to leave. There is a lot of pressure at all times and there is no flexibility. The job requires 8.30 - 5.30pm + more hours most days. Working from home is discouraged. The CEO casually yells at people on a daily basis at the head office and calls himself a dictator. If you are looking for a progressive, modern and flexible company then this won't be for you.

Pros

Sometimes you get taken out to nice meals, and the location views are pretty amazing. Some of the people you work alongside are wonderful. Could be a great place to work if you are a yes man.

Cons

You are made to feel as though you have a great deal of autonomy however the scope within which you can move is very narrow. Basic fundamental management principles are not applied by senior management nor is employment law strictly abided by. Whilst some of the people you will work along side are wonderful, i have never dealt with such pettiness and willingness to cut others down to lift oneself up. Education is not valued; do not expect to be allowed to apply learnings from your tertiary education if it is not in keeping with the outdated "servcorp way". The company does not look fondly on individuals who question processes and give feedback in an effort to improve efficiency and quality of work. They promise the world, and assure you the company culture is amazing however this couldn't be further from the truth.

Thank you for taking the time to share your candid feedback. We acknowledge your comments regarding your experience with autonomy and basic fundamental management principles, however, there are many examples contradictory to your opinion. The management scope within Servcorp is democratic, wide and varied, having often been described as a 39-year-old start-up (founded in 1978). We respectfully disagree with you on your comments regarding tertiary education. Education is highly valued and well regarded within all areas of Servcorp so we are sorry to hear that this was not your experience. Many of our Servcorp team members have a tertiary or postgraduate education. However, regardless of tertiary attainment, our education system within Servcorp encompasses one of the best holistic training programs in our industry. For example, a typical management role within Servcorp includes sales, local area marketing, team hire, training, performance management, client customer service, accounts, P&L responsibility for profits, IT maintaining and set up systems for new clients and teams. In regards your comments on team turnover we take this very seriously and will continue to look for ways to motivate and reward all of our team members. We have invested heavily in team training to help increase team members retention and longevity. We have an on the ground team of approximately 150 across ANZ -with the average age being 25 years old. The standard published statistics for this age group within similar organisations have an average turnover every 1 year and eight months (HILDA, Department of Employment 2014), so we are well within the norm. We have many ANZ managers who have been here for over five years (12+ managers just in Sydney) and we certainly pride ourselves on having some of the finest management teams in the business and retaining this top talent. Whilst we appreciate your feedback, it doesn’t, however, align with our normal management feedback. Once again, we thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

Pros

Being busy is good as your day goes fast and the clients are lovely. The salary is also fair as well

Cons

Pretty much everything. * Terrible training and then thrown in the deep end * very demanding dress standards which is fine but just be prepared. they definitely hire pretty ladies - they are prancing around everywhere * so chauvinistic you feel like you've stepped Into a time warp * very young staff who are patronising and gossipy - a bit like school. No team playing *extremely patronising managers who are also young and micro manage (eg. "can you go make coffee for this client now!" - with no thank you). Prob the most patronising management I've ever seen and I've worked in 5 star hotels * an extremely negative environment to work in * you do things that aren't even part of your role - Move furniture, make coffees, clean conference rooms. All asked in a patronising way with no thanks * did I mention I was actually in a management title? So imagine how they treat the junior staff * icing on the cake was when I met one of the upper managers/owners (male) at a function. I walked up to introduce myself and shake his hand and he didn't even make eye contact, he just said "hi - we are out of glasses. Can you go get some more". Who does that?! * I used to cry before work. Don't work here if you are undecided. I've worked in many places now and have about 15 yrs experience from 5 star hotels, small offices and big. This was by far the worst. I guess it attracts nasty people and the cycle continues.
