Pros

You are passionate about geo-location technology.

Cons

This start-up company has made the silly mistake of choosing the wrong development platform, out of ignorance of database and programming language technologies. As a serious consequence, they will probably face (or are facing right now) hard-to-solve scalability problems, requiring a complete refactoring of their server-side software. They have raised enough money, but it is unlikely they will be able to spend them wisely and rival powerful competitors as Google, which have much more expertise and resources. You won't be allowed enough time to care of software quality and scalability, the latter being very important for the kind of problem they are trying to solve. Moreover, you will be forced to work under pressure without any appreciation for your hard work and no salary bonus. Be prepared to work 12 or more hours per day to meet to very strict deadlines, with no salary rise. The management team has no knowledge of computer science at all and very little experience in managing software development.

Pros

Innovative software itching to spread as the defacto indoor positioning solution globally and a good team dedicated to making it happen. Great office location, team enjoys free lunch every Friday and fresh fruit every day, Xbox play area, and great opportunities like paid workshops locally and abroad to encourage development of skills.

Cons

Challenging environment with real time development and immediate knock on effects across the board, requires flexibility and efficiency - which can all be seen as pros rather than cons, depending on attitude.
