Pros

Good people, who often are trying to improve things

Cons

Worst onboarding process I’ve ever experienced. No support or training available. High staff turnover, followed by not replacing roles thus increased workloads. 4 financial directors in 6 months! Lack of job security with people disappearing weekly. Lack of communication from senior leadership particularly relating to disappearing staff/organisational structure so you have no idea who to contact or understand roles/responsibilities. Poor collaboration between departments. Lack of sufficient processes exacerbated by the lost knowledge/skills due to turnover, redundancies, communication, collaboration issues as above. Jumping from “urgent” project to project each week, not giving enough time for completion or providing clarity on project targets/outcomes. Jumping to next project despite no progress or even metrics monitored for the last “urgent” project. Expectation of early starts and late finishes as standard. Meeting invites at 7am and on same day at 8pm! No understanding of staff well-being. Poor working culture.

Pros

Free parking Free drinks from vending machine

Cons

Avoid this company like the plague Too many managers Not enough staff No pay rises Over burdened with work Forced to work weekend overtime - no one will take weekend shifts as no one wants to work them Don't pay you for overtime worked during the week Engineers unable to do jobs you give them due to lack of parts Poor communication between staff and departments Couldn't organise a drink in a brewery Poor training Uncompetitive pay Low morale Management happy to delegate work but unable to do the work themselves Had people from completely different departments try and dump their work on me when they were due to go on holiday even though I've never been trained for their work No one covers your work when you go on holiday It's a pain to try and take holiday Unable to take more than 1 weeks holiday if you work in the office Management and directors live in la la land and have no idea how bad it is for anyone who isn't in a Management or director position.

Pros

There really aren’t any pros to working for this company which outweigh the cons.

Cons

-Unachievable targets -Rigged bonus system, it’s so complicated you can’t understand it to work out what you are owed -Blame culture from directors in the commercial team- when they lose big accounts the blame is passed down to the staff below -Bullying culture, which is not even done behind closed doors and even the decent managers that do work there happily sit back and watch -Hours and hours of pointless internal calls, questioning sales and plans -Awful onboarding/training program, they are “obsessed” with brain washing you with the company values and beliefs and don’t even bother training you on systems and product range -They are losing big accounts left right and centre, due to debt with their clients, bad service and inconsistency with communication I could go on with the amount of cons about this company, my advice to anyone reading this is to avoid the company at all costs. You will be in and out once you realise how unhealthy their culture is and how bad their service is with their clients

Pros

The staff - everyone from merchandisers to office staff. The people who work tirelessly (and I mean tirelessly!) to keep Selecta afloat with not so much as acknowledgement of existence from management.

Cons

Everything (and that is in no way an exaggeration) - this is the worst company I have ever worked for. I would not go AS FAR as saying it is the worst company in the world but it most certainly has a platinum membership in hell. Firstly, the company structure is an absolute joke - more directors than there is common sense . You will be spread thin and pushed to complete multiple deadlines only to hear that there is another director in the business. I am now honestly waiting to hear that the next appointment is the Director of Directors! Secondly, communication is nonexistent - 'passing the buck' should be the company slogan. Severe lack of BASIC training across all departments means staff are not equip to carry out day to day tasks. Management expect everyone to hit the ground running when the ground they are presenting you with is made of quick sand. Thirdly, kiss goodbye to any form of social/general life you have. EVERYTHING is needed yesterday meaning every day you have to work 100mph and the expectancy to constantly stay after your shift to complete the mammoth amount of work never goes. The offices are lifeless and any conversations among colleagues is short lived due to the sheer amount of work to complete. Lastly, you (people in the business or potential employees) are disposable - turnover is now so high that is has gone beyond a joke. No matter how long you have worked for Selecta (decades in so many peoples case) or how hard you work your dedication will never be recognized. You will be forgotten in the time it takes your manager to blink or sneeze. If you care about your work-life balance, health, family, friends, pets, even your intelligence do not work at Selecta. There are SO MANY better companies out there that will value and appreciate you or even at the bare minimum acknowledge you as an employee! If you are reading this as a current Selecta employee - GET OUT! Selecta will never be like it was in the past and things are only going to get worse and you, the 'ground' staff, will feel it hardest and be left to pick up the pieces.

Pros

Supportive Peers, fast paced environment and well driven. Positive attitude and higher leadership keep an open mind for suggestions of improvement "Let's see if it works" attitude. No matter what department or level in the business you are people are genuine and down to earth, but also honest and encouraging. Selecta is a place for a career, not just a job. You can build and progress in the right environment and people around you. There is a huge support and encouragement for women in leadership and the workforce is incredibly diverse.

Cons

Not always a clear communication on the bigger picture on the goal/endgame of a project, for example.

Pros

- There are some highly committed, skilled and hard-working people who put their life and soul into the business. - Remote working

Cons

- Convoluted Internal Processes - Awful internal and external communication - Customers come 2nd - poor customers services which isn't helped because of multiple IT systems - Staff churn rate of 50+% - Organisational structure is too top heavy - Refusal to pay commissions on occasions - Below industry standard salary - Negative Industry perception and lack of trust in service - Distinct lack of marketing strategy and resource support - Directors will only accept emails/calls from SLT not subordinates - Generally stressed out management who are off ill (no sick pay) - Absolutely zero culture and limited opportunities for development - Lack of suitable showrooms to take prospect customers - More politics than in Westminster - Be prepared for your own personal address to be accidentally included on customers invoices months after you left (apparent breach of GDPR here) - Be prepared to receive unfounded warnings in a templated letter after you have left accusing you of attempting to poach customers (apparently its common).
