Pros

There is nothing redeemable about this company

Cons

Liars and thieves. They will use you and abuse you with a smile on their face while giving you nothing you need to do your job. Terrible support structure of people who will hear you but not listen to you. CEO is by far the most unprofessional and selfish person I have had to deal with in my professional career. He has already run this company into the ground once and seems determined to do it again. They care nothing about you having a personal life and will demand you do things on your time off that are neither your job or responsibility. During the pandemic they forced people into roles that they didn't want while cutting their wages and forcing them to work over time. They claim to be diverse but mover past the store level and the POC seem to disappear. All of this is just the tip of the iceberg. Do not work here if at all possible. If you need to, get what you need and get out before they take advantage of you. When they say ‘make life better’ they are only referring to the company.

Pros

Full free coffee (and liquor) bar in HQ; wear your sports bra and yoga pants to work; beautiful office.

Cons

At any level, please don't be fooled by the dream you are sold during the interview. They expect you to work around the clock - if you have weekend plans, you better put it on ping board; if you don't respond to emails or text messages sent all hours of the day and week, expect to hear about it on your annual review- (if/when you get one). There is not much diversity in leadership and that's because you have to fit a certain image to go anywhere in the company. If your dad is anyone special or if you went to Cornell, they'll make you a VP within six months. If you want to be a puppet and suck up to their VP's and CEO then you can grow, but otherwise you are seen as a problem. If you don't agree with their point of view they are quick to belittle you and make you feel like you don't belong. There is NO room for mistakes, the minute you make one they will write you off; and I am not talking about a detrimental financial mistake, I am talking about a minor spelling error in an email. You can walk right into their HQ and see that if you're not thin, white and in your 20s there's no place for you so you'll be nothing more than a worn down cafe manager, barista or team lead. They promise growth, but don't count on it. The culture the CEO is so obsessive over are just words on an ugly wall.

Pros

The team in the cafe can be the best.

Cons

HQ does not care about the people who work in the cafes. You are seen as just a number that is expected to meet every demand, regardless of any possible limitations. As a manager, you are underpaid and treated very poorly because upper management only cares if your cafe can open and run. If you are sick, you are met with a "find coverage" but there is no real compassion or assistance. If you are struggling to meet any demands, you are treated as though you are incompetent. For a company that likes to project that they are "people forward", they just mistreat their people and burn them out. The bonus structure is nonexistent for cafe management, so there is no real increase in pay over the base salary. You are expected to live and breathe for only Saxbys and they will be appalled if you stand up for yourself and any boundaries you may need to put in place. This is a 24/7 job for way too little pay.
