Way too many to list off, but here’s a few off the top of my head:
-Embarrassing pay rate.
-Management and higher-ups in the company are questionable and are constantly making ridiculous decisions.
-Moving forward in the company isn’t as common as you’d think and accepting more responsibilities or taking a promotion often results in a VERY minimal pay raise or none at all.
-Hard work, dedication, loyalty, and what the company likes to call “going the extra mile” is hardly ever recognized. If it is, you will most likely be compensated with just a pat on the back. Thanks, but that doesn’t help put gas in my car or pay my rent...
-Be prepared to receive phone calls on your days off asking to fill in and or cover a shift from a fellow employee that failed to show up for their shift and then be guilt tripped into showing up.
-Co-workers and their work ethics can be questionable at times. The company is constantly hiring and turnover is common, so new faces and new work-ethics are constantly being introduced to the workplace. Some people are looking to do as little as possible and some people are looking to do as much as possible. The go-getters and the lazy idiots make equal money... Just let that sink in.
-Seniority isn’t always properly recognized or honoured.
-Your work schedule in regards to your shifts are constantly changing. Don’t even bother trying to make plans in advance without taking a requested time off “RTO” or filling out an availability report stating you’re unavailable to work on said day(s).
-Required to always be available for 1 day (Saturday or Sunday) of the weekend to work, unless you take an RTO.
-You need to submit a 3 week (21 day) minimum notice if you want to take a day(s) off work. If you fail to do so, you will have to arrange to have someone cover your shift for you that day, given someone is willing or even able to for that matter.
-Constant workplace drama and gossip amongst co-workers and management.
I could sit here and write a book but my thumbs are sore now from typing.
