Pros

The people I worked directly with were fantastic. They made going in everyday fun and enjoyable. The pay was okay.

Cons

The executive level and upper management seem to not recognize when their behavior and decisions negatively affect the rest of the employees and the company. At one point the CEO decided to only have meetings with and speak to about 5 other executives about business related things. Many of them are also not entirely qualified for their positions since they were hired based on their friendship with the owner. There were times when executives would give their uninformed request for us to change what or how we were doing something, making our jobs more difficult and less effective; instead of asking why we did something the way we did, they would simply butt-in and tell us what to do, rather than trusting us as qualified employees to do the job well. I always felt worried that my job could disappear at any time. There is zero job security. There is also poor communication between the different departments (many people don't respond to emails, text messages, or phone calls) and there are 4 different building locations across 2 cities, so talking to someone in-person isn't a convenient option.

Pros

It was close to home. 97% of the fellow employees are GREAT people and I wish them all the very best. COO is a great guy, I would work for him any time (elsewhere).

Cons

IMHO....Their words are about how much they care about employees Their actions show just the opposite. Low wages for what they expect from the workers. Owners dont care about the employees like they claim they do. Owners trying to "STREAMLINE" the process are actually making it harder to do your job but they dont want to hear that, and most dont have the nerve to say it out loud as they are just trying to get by and cant afford to loose their jobs. . Morale just keeps getting worse and worse as the owners keep making changes, more restrictions, more rules, less employee appreciation. i could go on....

Pros

Rustica is based on a great idea and has real energy you can feel. They make cool products and have so much potential. Most of the people you work with are top-notch.

Cons

As is common for most small companies, those who founded the company cannot seem to stick to their core competency (creativity) and let people who know business run the business. They switch gears on an almost daily basis, never letting yesterday's great idea come to fruition. Almost every Monday felt like they were trying to reinvent the company. They pride themselves on being nimble and moving quickly but the result is just a lot of jerky motion without every getting anywhere. Top management seem to micromanage other departments, making everyone afraid to do what they were hired to do. No one felt empowered. Now everyone just waits for someone to tell them what to do because the boss always wants it their way or no way. Period.
